Any advice for treating pressure sores?

My wife aged 81 has pressure sores on both her heels which has become ulcerated and is not responding to treatment, do you have any suggestions?

Hi @madge, and welcome to Connect. I found some information on treatments for pressure sores from Mayo Clinic (http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/bedsores/basics/treatment/con-20030848). Some of the information included in this link it for very severe sores, but I think it provides a good overview of recommended options.

I'm also tagging @gonefishinmt and @aimeenc who may be willing to share their experiences with sores and particular treatment methods they have found helpful.

I am so worry about my spouse's pressure sore, even with proper home health care, the stress on both of us ,is building. With both of us are disable, it seems to affect us and my blood pressure,stress,and mental health is hard to deal with most times. My spouse uses a wheelchair and know its hard of both of us.

I am so worry about my spouse's pressure sore, even with proper home health care, the stress on both of us ,is building. My wife is in hospital at the moment, but her treatment is not working. Her dressing is being changed every day,but it's not working,any advice would be welcome. Thank you.

I know its rough, my husband has been treated since Feb. But its a very slow healing and also stressful for all involved . Hopefully, maybe hydraulic chamber might help.

A hydraulic chamber is a clear "tube like" table enclose , like a MRI<br>machine . My husband was put in it, and I was able to see hime(clear tube),<br>and his could listen to music ,or speak to me, or just nap. The unit is<br>often in a out-patient type building. He was treated as needed with a<br>doctor's request. This is something that "might" help, but please ask your<br>doctor for his/her option , if this can help. Good luck :)<br><br>
