What do I do after 6 Years of Reclast?
If I start back on Reclast for a 2nd time, this will be a total of 6 years with a drug holiday I had in between, what do I do after that? Im very concerned, as I don’t think I can stay on Recast for longer than 6 years due to the side effects, and the bone building drugs don’t work as well after being on Bisphosphonates so I won’t be able to switch to those, I at a loss of what to do?

mangoes, you can (should) switch to an anabolic. It sound like you were on Reclast for two years and have been on a drug holiday for two years. If so, the timing is perfect for starting an anabolic. Evenity, Forteo and Tymlos bone building effects would be delayed but with Forteo at two years, you'll have have equal bone bmd addition to those who haven't started with bisphosphonates.
The reason you want to switch is that Reclast restricts bone remodeling. The best bone is remodeled bone. Reclast stops fissured bone from breaking down. In doing so it stops new bone from being laid down. You aren't refreshing your bone on Reclast. The reason they don't advise staying on Reclast forever is because the bone you are saving becomes avascular and brittle. And you'll be glad to get away from those side effects. I think Forteo is the best choice, but I'm highly prejudiced because it is the only osteoporosis drug I've taken.

1 Reactioni took PROLIA for several years until, for the same reasons as the Reclast, was ended. Then i got some back bone fractures which i'm struggling with now.
Forteo is very expensive and i'm told that Prolia is as good.

Did you take anything after Prolia.
Forteo is very expensive. Prolia is an easier application-- every six months, instead of every day. For Medicare patients Prolia is free in the US.
But they are very different medications.
Prolia adds mineral to your bone increasing BMD, plus it preserves damaged bone, also increasing BMD. Prolia has a heavy rebound if you don't follow it with another medication. Most people experience multiple fractures without a transition medication
Forteo clears out damaged bone before laying down new bone. Increasing bone density at a slower rate but also increasing the vascularity and flexibility of the added bone. You lose the added bone if you stop Forteo without following it with another medication, but there isn't rebound from the medication.
Prolia is much better at preventing bone metastasis. Forteo doesn't at all.
There are situations where Prolia helps more and situations where Forteo is far better.
@gravity3 she recommended for 2 years, but not sure what I do after that? Also afraid of giving myself 360 shots a year, and the refrigeration needed, especially when traveling
@gently thank you for that, can you tell me what’s it’s like to inject yourself every day? and how you travel with it? If you get the dizziness and nausea, I’m worried about that. What do you plan on following it up with after you finish forteo?
