PRP for rotator cuff injury?
I had rotator cuff surgery which was not completely successful. Some of the tendon reattached but there is a partial tear. The surgeon is recommending 3 PRP treatments which are not paid for by Medicare. Does anyone have experience with PRP? Good or Bad?

My daughter has had PRP on SI joint and knee, separately. After years of frequent PT and surgery on the knee 12 years before. The PRP was miraculous for her- within 24 hours. Everyone is different. We paid $1,000 each time. It was recommended by a rehab physiatrist in a major hospital system and the physiatrist who did it was in the same system and had a lot of expertise.

3 ReactionsI’ve had PRP for tendon tear in thigh as well as for arthritis in both feet with great success in both. Insurance didn’t pay for mine, it not very expensive at all, at least with my orthopedic. No invasive surgery, no down time. Well worth looking into.

4 ReactionsWhat is RPT???
I have used PRP for years on my knee. Yes, its expensive but no down time and surgery. I am bone on bone, but it does take care of arthritis. The local dermatology office uses it on women to regrow hair. I did have TKR and it went poorly. More pain over the years from that surgery than PRP.

1 ReactionPlatelet-Rich-Plasma (PRP) is an injection to an injury area. Google it.
“T” cells?
Strongly recommend anyone contemplating PRP do your research. Guided injection have a 75% greater chance the standard “poke & hope” method. There is a Dr on YouTube that really explains the do’s and don’ts of PRP.

1 Reaction@csrb7007 the original post is from 2023, but the advice to have a guided injection is invaluable. Mine does it with ultrasound so she can she where the needle is going.
Apparently it does not work for everyone - I have been fortunate with the injections for my two foot conditions - Osteochrondral defect and sinus tarsi syndrome. It is unfortunate insurance will not pay for it since it’s been around for a very long time.
I have a 50% tear in my rotator cuff and have been in so much pain especially at night. My range of motion is not good but does loosen up with exercise. The dr suggested PRP for my shoulder since I do not want the surgery which involves a long recovery. He even said in your 70s it take longer to recover. Anyone have this in their shoulder. Looking for pain relief.
