Arthrosamid shots

My son age 56 is having Arthrosamid put in both wrists on July 13. He has no cartilage in the joint of the thumb and index finger. This was a result from golfing. This procedure has been successful in knees but has not been done in Vancouver, BC. for wrists. He will have to pay for this procedure. Has anyone heard of this? Apparently it is not approved in the USA
