If we have 40% chance of rupture, why do they wait until we are at 5cm?

I guess it would be considered prophylactic, to operate when it has a 60% chance of stabilizing.. The surgery maybe not worth the risk? IDK.. I had a polyp and they weren’t 100%sure of NO cancer, even though biopsies were negative. so I had 6” of colon removed, also the important ICvalve, so they could dissect the polyp afterward, which turned out to be benign. That was maybe a 50% chance it may turn cancerous. Also a major op. So in a sense, that’s also prophylactic.

Me also .I'm a wreck. I try not to think about it.

I find refocusing helps alot!

I’m told scan may be more accurate. Try keeping your BP low, to help stabilize size.

very interesting. Now have some questions for my cardiologist. I am having a ct scan with contrast next week. Will be my second scan in last 6 months. I feel better about myself as i gain knowledge. I have cut my weight lifting to 20 pounds and do a lot of reps. Waiting for weather to improve so biking and gardening can begin. Last scan showed 4.8 even though three people read it and one said 4.0, the cardiologist said 4.2 and the surgeon said 4.8. They all measured differently. Now i wait for the next results. Ifeel knowledge helps to reduce anxiety and my BP.

I usually get a chest scan and an echo and they both been pretty accurate 4.5. Been stable for the past year so I go every six months now Dr. wanted me to go for my next one in a year and I said I’d rather go every six months for now.

I have found they all may be correct. My first reading was 4.0, 4.5 and 4.8 all from the same CT Scan, different people reading. Yes, stressful, but what does that get you? I have backed off lifting heavy objects and when i work out i will do 40 at 20 pounds instead of 15 at 50. Beat goes on.

I had the same type of issue. It went from 4.7 to 4.9 but they said it was "no change". I asked about that and they said it depends on where it was measured exactly so the number varies. The important part is when they compare the previous to the current and they say "no change". Frustrating, but it is what it is so we just wait. And live a good life..
