Aortic Ascending Aneurism - Share Growth Rate

Posted by Fighter @niravani, Jan 10 1:04pm

Hello Everyone, I look for any thread that talk about Aortic Ascending Aneurism with Bicuspid valve and its growth rate. I got diagnose by accident for Aortic Ascending Aneurism of 4.5CM at the age of 50 and have bicuspid valve as well. My next CT scan is in June 2024.

If anyone in the same boat or diagnosis, can you please share your experience with growth rate of this Aorta over time with bicuspid valve?

I will appreciate your input and help. Thank you.

So now after 20 plus years after my heart ablation for AFIB, I was in AFIB last weekend and felt like crap. The VA out of Sioux Falls put a monitor on me until 5 Mar.
Did not know about AFIB until after my Aorta surgery, the Mayo Clinic put me on medication for this and also the Veterans Administration have been watching it as well.

M 48yo - I was diagnosed with an ascending aneurysm in mid-2019 that was 4.2-4.3. My last scan in December 2023 showed around 4.5, which seems to be (unfortunately - I was hoping I'd be one of the people with the ones that don't grow) a "regular" rate of progression. I guess I'm looking at a surgery in 3-5 years, because my doctor says he doesn't want it to go past 5.0.

Good luck!
