Switching to Trintellix or Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Posted by elwooodsdad @elwooodsdad, Dec 31, 2018

I have switched from duloxetine to trintillix about 21/2 months ago, and am not adjusting well. Sleep deprivation, mood swings, deeper depression, suicidal thoughts, etc. I’m to see my doctor on 1/2/19, and think switching back to duloxetine would be appropriate. Anyone else with trintillix experience?

Is anyone taking, or familiar with Trintellix? I have been taking Fluoxetine for years and my psychiatrist and I thought I might try this instead. As I read about this I become more and more reluctant to try it due to the many reports of nausea especially and eye troubles as well. I'd appreciate any information anyone on this site has. Thank you.

My depression remains a constant in my life (feel no joy) along with anxiety and lately a few panic attacks. My system is sensitive to medications and have tried numerous meds with numerous side effects, but depression is so unrelenting that new meds have been suggested. Does anyone have any experience or knowledge with everything either Trintellix or LDN? Have done some research, but would appreciate some feedback. Thanks

Hi @marjou and @alamogal635, I moved your messages about Trintellix (low dose naltrexone or LDN) to this existing discussion about the drug so that you could read the experiences of other members like @elwooodsdad @petangelkat1 @jeanmnyc @rachel123 @marazion and others.

@alamogal635 did you make the switch?

@marjou if you are sensitive to medications and have tried several, have you ever considered genetic testing?
You can read more about it and people's experiences in this discussion:

Not aware of this genetic testing. The list of meds I've tried is so long that most doctors have given up. Thanks for info.

The reference input you provided helped in my decision not to try Trintellex. Thank you.

Have read some other posts an Trintellix which cost and bad side effects helps me to determine not to try it for me.

@marjou, I'm wondering if you ended up trying Trintellix? I have been on Prozac for over 15 years, and it stopped working for me about a year ago. I've been on almost every other psych medication (it feels like, anyhow). My psychiatrist recommended Trintellix awhile back. I'm considering trying it. How are you doing now? Have you tried anything to augment your Prozac (or did you try another medication)?

@kelster69 Did not try Trintellix because of side effects and cost. Am very sensitive to meds and financial constraints. Not on Prozac and have tried a long list of meds which have not worked for me. Good luck to you.

Thanks for getting back to me, @marjou. I am very sorry to hear that no meds have worked for you. Have you considered TMS? Just curious, as that, too has been suggested to me. All the best to you too.

You might look at early posts of mine...Trintellix did me no favors. It was a simply horrible experience for me, but I understand when it works, it works well. My reaction was debilitating, and the cost was dear, but manageable had it worked. Best regards.
