Recovery after Meningioma Surgery

Posted by nancye3 @nancye3, Jul 30, 2017

Just trying to find out if anyone in this group has had surgery recently at Mayo? Wondering how long my sister Jill will need to stay there and when she is able to fly back to Atlanta?
Best Regards to al!

Also for those of you who were out of state, was your follow up at Mayo or did the Doctors At Mayo coordinate your care where you live with a Neurosurgeon there?
Thank You

Hi @nancye3 My wife had her brain surgery at Mayo in Rochester, Minnesota. Due to the severity of her prognosis she continued to work most closely with her neuro-oncology team at Mayo, but they did a very effective and efficient job of coordinating with her GP in our hometown. A factor of this was also my wife's decision that she was most comfortable with the neuro docs at Mayo and did not want to have to do double duty with a local neuro doc too. Just one example and as I have said before brain cancer is a highly unique disease as is the patient's reactions to it, etc. She stayed with her Mayo neuro-oncologist for all 14+ years of her fight.

Peace & Strength

Thank You so much for your post.  My sister is from Atlanta and just trying to get an idea how all of this will work. My other sister fought the hard battle of breast cancer flying back and forth for 17 years to MD Anderson. All my best to you
