Is anyone on Repatha for cholesterol...

I'm taking Repatha shots every 2 weeks for cholesterol. So far, so good.
Has anyone experienced side effects...

Tuesday of this week I had my 2nd Leqvio shot. On Thursday I woke up disoriented, couldn’t remember where the kitchen was in a house my family has owned since 1965. An hour later I was better. Four hours later I was more or less thinking normally with a few odd holes in my memory, like I could not recall where a street is that I know very well. Many of the holes in my memory are related to location, name, or how to do something. What is this? Is it what people call « brain fog »?

What kind of problem are you having with auto injector? I received mine but haven't started yet. I have read instructions and watched youtube video. I'm going to take first injection tonight. I wish it was just regular syringe with vial of med. Concerned I'm going to mess up.

@joyeous I try to follow the directions closely but no matter how hard I press the gray button the needle fails to inject. Yesterday I thought I had it for sure. When I took the injector away from my skin the needle popped out and sprayed medicine all over me. Before giving up I asked my daughter for help and she was successful. So far I have wasted 3 injections. The company replaced 2. I spoke to a company representative and went to my pharmacist for assistance. I am a failure at autoinjection.

@phyllisq were you able to determine why needle did not come out when you pressed gray button?

I am on Repatha but am having a difficult time with the autoinjectors. I am about ready to give up and go back to statins. The side effects seem to be mild - less muscle and joint pain. A little nausea at first.

@phyllisq I had trouble as well and discovered that I could not push down hard enough on the device while giving myself the injection. Now my husband helps me and no problems. Hope this helps.

@phyllisq This might sound odd, but I find that injecting into my stomach is the easiest and least painful. Pinch your skin a few inches away from your belly button, press and hold the injector against your pinch and push the button. I turn the injector so I can watch the window and hold it in place for a second or 2 after it stops moving.

My problem is with the injector. Instructions - press the gray button - nothing happens - press harder - still nothing. After wasting two pens I was ready to give up, but decided to try asking my daughter to help. The first time she tried it on me, nothing happened. I knew from the Repatha rep on the phone that you can just start over and do it again until the needle loosens. That worked. I think the movement of lifting the injector to see what was wrong and turning it over to start again helped loosen the needle.

@agb Not odd at all. I also find the stomach the least painful. I will try again in two weeks.

@pam2017 Thank you. I was starting to think I was the only one having a problem doing the shot. I feel better about needing help.

@phyllisq I can understand that! I felt like I should be able to do it myself too.

@JustinMcClanahan my experience was that the side effects on Repatha came on a bit more slowly than with statins. For the first couple of weeks I thought I had found a chlorestrol lowering drug that I could tolerate. But, that was not to be. Once the side effects came on they were even worse than as ratings and only got worse, never better. I took it for 3 months, one week and had to quit.

Glad to hear that I'm not alone in finding that Repatha side effects came on more slowly. As with other statins, after 6-8 weeks, I'm again experiencing muscle weakness and working so hard just to expand my rib cage to breathe. Those side effects went away after stopping the other statins and I'm considering stopping Repatha now. I will give it one more shot this next week and hope that magically the side effects go away. This past week I've been thinking about the fact that I only weigh 100 pounds (and am short, so not skinny!). I think most meds are designed for males almost twice my size. Where are the studies on women of small stature? That was just my rant - not expecting you to have the answer.
