Is anyone on Repatha for cholesterol...

I'm taking Repatha shots every 2 weeks for cholesterol. So far, so good.
Has anyone experienced side effects...

@ladrid Hi. I also had a severe pain in my hip but I’m pretty sure it started before the Repatha. I have arthritis and degenerative spine problems so the pain is likely from that. I am working with a pain specialist and he has helped me.

@phyllisq hope the specialist works…my cardio had me skip my next injection to see if the pain improves…I guess we will see.

I had taken 2 doses and developed pretty severe joint pain in my hips. I went to cardio last week and they instructed me to skip next dose to see if it goes away or not. So, we will see….

My wife has been on it about 5 yrs with incredible results and no side effects. She is 69 now and very active. Don’t know if either make any difference but I thought I would add.

Hi…. I’m supposed to start Repatha next week but worried about all the negative reviews I have read. Any suggestions or positive reviews from taking it?

@msfauber Two years ago, I felt exactly the same. I had reacted badly to every statin tried, but my total cholesterol and LDL continued to climb, then I was diagnosed with coronary artery disease - time for something.

Fast forward 2 years, my numbers are great, and my side effects are very mild and predictable. The day after my injection, I have a little fatigue, so I try not to schedule too much. I found it works best to take it a bedtime. And every couple months, I have a day or so of nasal congestion, but now I understand I'm not "coming down with something."

Remember, sometimes when we read on-line forums like Mayo Connect, we are usually only hearing from those who had a reaction, side effect or failed surgery. The thousands or millions without any isse are just out there living their lives.

@sueinmn thank you for your comments. They were very informative and helpful. I haven’t had any issues with the statin I’m currently using.

@czechgirl, I think @gcgc was referencing your comment you made that you started with Repatha but was allergic.

How long did you take Repatha? What side effects did you experience?

@jlharsh I have been on Praluent and now Repatha with great results and no side effects for over two years! It is the only drug that I have had to successfully get my cholesterol into the normal range!

I have been taking Repath for three years. My brother has been taken it for about 10. Neither one of us has had side effects that we recognize.

@msfauber I've been on Repatha more than 2 years. Shortly after taking it I had a runny nose for about a month; never sure was that from Repatha or just normal living. Since then, zero side effects other than a dramatic reduction in total C and LDL. Had my latest dose this morning.

Good luck in your journey
