I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. I have yet to

I have had fibromyalgia for over 20 years. I have yet to find anything that works all the time. Water therapy is good, a balanced diet and excersising as much as possible. Even though it hurts, you have to do it. Mine gets much worse in the winter when it's cold and I'm much less active. I don't take any of the meds because they don't agree with me. I'm on pain meds now though. I'm 52 and have good times and bad as far as health. It's hard to make too many plans, because I'm never sure how I'll feel. That's frustrating. I go on a warm weather ( Caribbean island) trip for a month every winter and I always feel better during that month!! Haha. Wonder why, huh?? @dknnkn

I am like you. I can't tolerate lyrica or savella. Water therapy is the best but not if the waters not warm enough. The cold bothers me too. When fall hits it hurts and winter too. I take vicodin & cyclobenzaprine, a muscle relaxer. I've also found xanax helpful when the pain is off the charts I tend to have anxiety, the other things that help are visualizing that warm tropical beach and focusing on my breathing. I like to sleep with a Cd of ocean waves playing, its soothing and helps me visualise that tropical beach and I imagine the warm sun warming my sore muscles and joints. I try to use all my senses focusing on the sound of the waves crashing I smell the warm soft air, I imagine drinking a pina colada. Its like a vacation in my mind. If I try hard enough I can escape the pain, escape my own body. I've lost so many friends because it is so hard to make plans. I cancel too many times and they stop inviting me. I would love to have a friend come over and visit when Im hurting but I always end up alone. I get frustrated too.

Hi Kerri Lynn
I have FM as well, been DXed for, yikes, 20 years. Hot water therapy is so helpful. I miss my YMCA that had a therapy pool that was warm enough. Now all I have is my not-big-enough tub! I'll visit you when you are flaring and in pain. A cyber visit of course.
How are you today?
The weather has me painful and swelling. I can't wait until summer. Whenever there are big fluctuations in temperature and pressure I hurt. I am the human barometer!
