I am 35 year female medical oncologist
I was diagnosed randomly with fibromyalgia earlier in my life may b in early 20s .initially I thought fibromyalgia is just a simple medical condition which causes pain and muscle spasms little did I know about the consequences which I was about to face later in life
20s were still ok sometimes I would get muscle aches so I started workout low impact stretching and all ..things were going ok then I started a thing called air hunger I was not able to inhale comfortably which caused alot of yawning these symptoms came and go ..I related it to GERd Gastro spasms and all ..again life went on then 2 years back I developed issues with my urine ..and at the end I developed interstitial cystitis.i m dealing with chronic fatigue and I don’t enjoy any single moment in life as if life is lost I hve so much lack of energy even after workup maintaining a well balanced diet and exercise and also from last so many my years IBS C is a part of life ..whtelese to say I mean words are less to express my condition.even while typing this message I feel pain in my arms ..I hope this message reaches to a place where I cn know more abt this condition which I m going through

3 ReactionsI’m so sorry. You’re sure you discounted all other possible syndromes that mimic FM/CFS? It took me a year and 10 different docs to get final diagnosis by a rheumatologist. It’s an idiopathic syndrome that presents differently for each person. For example, I had terrible migraines but no IBS. As an oncologist, you likely have huge stress at work. Stress is like gasoline in a fire for us. You need good coping mechanisms. Number one is regular counseling. Then gentle exercise. I teach Tai Chi for free. Yoga helps too. Then diet. Little to no sugar, gluten or simple carbs. That will be hard with IBS because I eat a ton of veggies. Rice is ok. Balancing meds that work for you is hard but not impossible. Tramadol and Prozac help me. We are famous for trying dozens of meds and protocols. Don’t give up because SOMETHING will work. DO (osteopaths) are the best doctors that understand us.

Great information for The young doctor that is struggling with fibromyalgia. You stated a few things about diet that I was not aware of. I will have to look into it as I got it when I was 20 something and now I’m 70 something.
Thank you for

3 ReactionsI’m so sorry. Even though I’m better right now from the fibromyalgia, I’m sure I’m having interstitial cystitis symptoms again. Flared up after passing 4 kidney stones. Had it bad 12-14 years ago, had treatment and was on medication for a couple of years. Stopped taking meds and had been fine regarding interstitial cystitis until now. The urologist that treated me for kidney stones did a couple of urine tests & of course no UTI. I knew it was Interstitial cystitis symptoms again. He gave me a medication but he didn’t like to prescribe it cause of the side effects. It caused me urine retention (scary). So I stopped it. Urologist said he thinks I have woman problems, not interstitial cystitis, not his area and should go back to GP. I know it’s not the “woman area” and recognize the interstitial cystitis. I haven’t addressed it because I’m so frustrated. Have burning pain when urinating and bladder pain, extreme pressure/uncomfortable that brings me to tears. 17 years I’ve suffered with fibromyalgia and dealt with many doctors and still not enough knowledge out there to really get the help needed. On the bright side I have received some relief from body pain and sleep with LDN. However I have to pay a doctor and compounding pharmacy to get it (not covered/prescribed by my insurance). It feels like another punishment for having fibromyalgia (having to pay out of pocket for something that does help.) There is much information in this group regarding LDN. I have to keep trying cause having something constantly popping up could drive me into deep depression. My church gives me hope. And my pets make me feel good. Peace and love.

3 Reactions@jeannesf1 if you’re not on an antidepressant, I would seriously consider it. Even with 10 years of strong Biblical counseling, them chemistry in my brain immediately defaults to depression. I inherited MDD and probably FM from my Mom. Prozac is a very well known, studied antidepressant with little side effects for most. I’m on a low dose but it helps a lot.

2 Reactions@fmcfs I’ve been on Wellbutrin for at least 10 years. Actually don’t feel like it’s working anymore. I may just take your advice and switch over to low dose of Prozac. I thank you so much for your help. Blessings.
