Is there a supplement that really works?

Posted by debbik @debbik, Nov 14, 2024

I was diagnosed 6 years ago with osteoporosis. I thought I was doing everything possible to build bone density but my latest bone density showed it got worse by 6%. I am taking a supplement called ‘bone-up’ which is supposed to be natural and has StimuCal. I’m wondering if there are better supplements out there that really help? Has anyone seen positive bone density results? If so, I would love to know what you are taking and doing. By the way, I’m 65, and try to be fairly active. Thank you.

Well as I said. I've been taking it for 8 months. My bones stopped aching, I'm back to doing housework I wasn't able to do before, not having the daily muscle spasms from just moving, etc. The dexascan showed a 12% improvement. I believe God has given us the ability to heal through food and not always through hard narcotics. You make a statement that is isn't doing anything for me but I guess the proof is in my dexascan and the results I'm feeling. It works for me. The side effects to many of these other drugs that you are on for the rest of your life - and the many people who testify they wish they had never gone on them - was enough for me to try it. I will continue this and now plan to incorporate a muscle building program and think I might be able to go back to pickle ball. Have no idea if it will work for anyone else can only say what it did for me. Have a nice day.

I agree….big pharm is not the only answer. I would love to know the women’s name that you are seeing and referenced since I am also going your route. I have some teeth issues and all the dentists and surgeons immediately ask “are you on osteo drugs”. Many drugs do cause long term affects and they don’t always show up until they do .
Please share with me the women’s name. Thank you and I believe you are taking the right path.
Not sure if everyone knows that the drug makers crates the dexa scan?

Has anyone tried Ocean Essense? I'm curious what supplements people have tried or are taking.

I have been taking Professional Formulas Bone Stim Liquescence (tsp under the tongue twice a day - holding for 5 minutes) and Kal Super Silicia Plus (started out taking 3 tables in morning and 3 in evening). I was diagnosed with Osteoporosis about 3 years ago. Dr. was insistent on starting my on one of the drugs (the injection that lasted for 12 months in your system. I chose not to because of side effects and my body is super sensitive to meds. I visited Phyllis at Rock Creek Herbs in Sapulpa, OK. She said to take the supplements listed above. I had a second bone scan about 12 months after taking the supplements and my diagnosis had moved from osteoporosis to osteopenia. Not do for another scan until January 2027. Excited to see the results.

@gen55 Currently taking New Chapter…i take 3 small tablets instead of 6…i like that I can increase or decrease the dosage…also, I wanted less magnesium than in some common supplements…supposedly, calcium from an organic plant source works better…looking forward to reviewing this with my wonderful PCP next month.

Actually, I take 4 tablets now— 2 after lunch, 2 after dinner…it gives the body time to absorb them. I do take some extra D3 after breakfast. One does have to be careful in regard to other meds/other health conditions….good luck !

@nycmusic I take New Chapter calcium as well and think it's a good product. But I take 1/2 dose in the morning and in the evening I take one Seen Calcium Chew, which gets its calcium from food (dates, milk minerals and protein, almonds and mushroom) . Each chew contains 500mg calcium and 400IU Vitamin D.

That’s impressive! Can I ask what your t-scores were before you started?

@daisy17 I have to time mine due to AM Levothyroxine… and I’m watching kidney #s so I have to be careful of too much calcium, dairy and protein…D3 seems okay for kidneys..I’m really hoping to be stable for now, as several conditions make standard OP meds problematic for me.
