Has anyone experienced depression after taking praluent?
Has anyone experienced depression after taking praluent? I recently started this PCSK9 after being on rosuvastatin for 3 weeks and experiencing such crippling fatigue and muscle soreness. I’m a very active 62 year old male and am trying to manage my new life after having had a stent placed in LAD.

I, too, have genetically high cholesterol, and my father died of heart problem at 62. I've gotten to be 79 miraculously, with a stent in my LAD 2017, and Praluent since. I am hypersensitive to all drugs (and pretty much everything else)...but love my Praluent. No discernible side effects, expect my cholesterol is under 100...miraculous! Hope you have similarly good results. I've been on anti-depressants since 2012, and am most grateful that they keep me level. Perhaps a chat with a good (prescribing) therapist?

2 Reactions@jlharsh I have an appt at Mayo June 1st with Dr Kopecky. I finally decided I’m tired of being a guinea pig with all the failed statin treatments and having my overall health and wellbeing diminished.
What I was wondering is if you had your CK (creatin kinase) levels checked and if so how high they might have been? Mine has been registering 340 at the most recent blood test.

1 Reaction@dlkreps, great news! I believe Dr. Kopecky will be able to help you figure out what is happening. You have had a long road, and a June 1 appointment is just around the corner. Please tell him, ‘hi’.
My CK creatine kinase (CK) has been as high as 500+, and also read critical problems happen at levels 5,000-10,000. My experience has been Mayo Clinic takes a conservative approach to identify what is (and is not) causing problems. They are aggressive once they know how to they can help. This will be important information to bring with you (if you haven’t provided already).
I am tagging @wgr123 who has also seen Dr. Kopecky, Mayo Clinic Cardiology.
How are you feeling? Do you have other appointments or tests initially scheduled?

1 Reaction@jlharsh I have a blood test initially followed by a cardio stress test, evaluation with Dr Kolpecky and then finally an electrocardiogram.
Also I have an appt with my local cardiologist tomorrow. Hoping for some encouraging direction.

1 Reaction@dlkreps I am checking in with you to see how you are doing and how your cardiology appointment went last week.
With what you have scheduled it looks like you will get a good cardiovascular assessment when you get to Mayo MN in a few weeks. Reading about your schedule brings back memories of my initial visit a few years ago. I am hopeful you will gain understanding of how your heart fits into your overall health with recommendations to treat your risk factors, and also alert you to non-cardio issues they may be find.
I believe you self-referred to Mayo Clinic Cardiology and Dr. Kopecky will no doubt have guidance for you. How did your cardiology appointment at home go, what did you learn? Do you anticipate your local cardiologist to be involved your care going forward?
@jlharsh Janell, I had an appt. with my cardiologist in town this past week. He pretty much discounted my symptoms from the statins and wants me to continue for another 3 months to see how things go. I don’t have a lot of faith with my Dr at this point.
I will be traveling to Mayo and have my appt. with Dr Kolpecky on June 1st. I’m sure hoping for good results! I will be sure to post about how things go. Thanks!
