Searching natural remedy on AMD (Age-related Macular Degenation
I was diagnosed suffering AMD (Age-related Macula Degenation) on early July, 2025. My left-eye has blurry vision on enter but no other symptoms found. I suspect being suffered on dry AMD because my left eye still able seeing straight lines.
I have been diagnosed suffering diabetes since 2006 but it is quite stable up to now. Also I have had blood and urea tests on early July but nothing abnormal found. My care doctor said my AMD is not caused by Diabetes in the eyes. I also have ultrasonic test on my neck but nothing abnormal found.
I have had the 1st injection of aflibercept (eylea) on July 25, 2025 but with no improvement. I'll have the second aflibercept injection on the coming August 20, 2025.
I'm now in anticipation to find natural remedy to AMD but nothing found on Internet searching.
Pls advise. Thanks in advance.
Regards

Yes, I was down to one with breakfast. That was still too much for me.
I take AREDS 2 as well, suggested by my eye doctor. I don't believe they would be recommended if they don't help. The National Eye Institute also suggests taking them. Either way, I don't believe they are harmful and at least I feel like I'm doing something to slow my AMD. I'm a vegetarian and eat a lot of leafy green vegetables, which is also suggested.

2 ReactionsSorry. There is a generic brand, I think. Maybe try that. Or at least get the lutein.
My eye surgeon's nurse called back and said Yes, I am to take the AREDS 2 per instructions on the bottle as brands can be different. So, I will continue to take them. I see the surgeon for a check up in December this year. I'll ask him personally and my guess is he will tell me to take them "for life" as well as the Timolol. I had cataracts removed in February 2025. He checks me every 4 months. Not sure how often I'll see him after next year. By the way, the surgery was successful. I can see in high definition now. Things I thought were grey are actually blue or green. I will need glasses for life, and we knew that, but the fog and darkness is gone. Now this silly issue of AREDS 2 Have a great day everyone. Thanks for the support and oh my, the kindness of everyone is wonderful.
try ProVision ARES2 they are capsules and ,at least for me, do not upset my stomach.
To my knowledge, the only thing that comes close to a natural remedy for AMD is Areds2. It actually does not cure AMD but helps to prolong your sight. Eye injections also do not cure AMD but just prolong your vision. A German company is in trials for an oral drug for AMD that will prolong vision. AREDS2 come as chewables and they seem to work better with my digestive system than the capsules.
I wish that I had better understood the importance of the vitamins and other ingredients in AREDS early on. I am 86 now and in intermediate stage. I can tell my vision has changed greatly. Retinal specialist thought I might be going into GA stage but on last visit, he did not start me on injections but said to return in four months for another check. My retinal specialist has great credentials and training and I have no doubt that what he is telling me is correct. I will stick with AREDS and green leafy veggies.

1 ReactionHi all,
Please allow me to add some information re my AMD.
I have excellent eye-sight when I was young until reaching my age of 86, before my AMD developed lately on my left eye. I don't need spectacle to read even at this age.
About 5 months ago I saw an advertisement in MTR station posting an eye drops, which is produced in Japan, able to slow down eyes degeneration. I purchased a bottle to try. After having tried 2 bottles I feel my left-eye having blurry vision. I consulted an ophthalmologist and was diagnosed as AMD. I have already stopped using this eye-drops
I haven't informed this incident to my ophthalmologist because this is only my suspicion.
I have used another eye-drops for dry-eye, also produced by the same manufacturer, for more than 30 years without problem. A few drops make my eyes feeling comfortable. I'm still using this eye-drops
Regards
I buy the chewables as I can't swallow the huge tablet option.
In addition to green leafy veggies, YELLOW foods help maintain eyes. And it’s not just veggies. Any yellow food like egg yolks, corn (even popcorn), yellow bell peppers, contain lutein, which is the nutrient that is beneficial to eye health. Pistachios is another non-leafy source high in lutein.

1 ReactionThe chewables are good for me. I have trouble swallowing those huge pills. They don't upset me at all. I was surprised to read that some people have problems with them. I've just been put on Metformin, those really affected me at first.
