Heart transplant
Greetings everyone. My name is Tim and thanks to the wonderful transplant team at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville I had a transplant on April 8th 2023. I returned to work in June and have been working out regularly. I met a lot of incredible people while doing rehab. Would love to hear from you all!

Hi Tim Im Dana, just celebrated 6 years post heart transplant at Mayo Clinic Phoenix Arizona. Sounds like you're doing great and yes, I enjoyed Rehab also. Especially seeing my new heart did so well while exercising. The fact that they monitored it while on the treadmill and Bicycle gave me a lot of confidence that I was now so much better than when my old heart and all of its problems.
I just had my 6th year check-up last week and did my second stress test. I was a bit nervous seeing my heart sped up to 133 BPM but after it was a great relief to know it went thru the test with flying colors. The normal course I have figured out is the first few years they do internal Ultrasounds during an angiogram. and now year 5 & 6 were stress tests. I love the fact that Mayo is on top of making sure that we have no issues and if we do, they can be solved quickly.
So you're coming up on year one. How is life so far. feeling a bit more normal?
Blessings from a fellow Heart transplant precipitant

2 ReactionsHi Dana. Congratulations on your 6 successful years. I'm so happy to hear that. You're definitely an inspiration. I have adjusted pretty well and learned the true meaning of doing things in moderation. I pay a lot more attention to the things I consume and try to eat healthier. I'm lifting weights and doing cardio regularly. For a while now I have felt like my heart, mind and body are all on the same page. This journey is about mental health and wellness just as much or maybe even more than it is physically. I'm so happy to hear from you and please stay in touch!

1 ReactionHi Tim and Dana. I’m Paula. My husband is going to Mayo Arizona tomorrow 4-11-26 for a Heart Transplant evaluation . I am a bit nervous. I have not spoken to anyone yet about the process, my travel arrangements. Just nothing. I will be just patient with the process and just preparing to travel when they tell me. Tim and Dana I love your stories. They have already lighted up my spirits. Can we continue to chat. I would like that a lot.

2 ReactionsHi @pjw51 and welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect! It is understandable why you are nervous about your husband’s heart transplant scheduled for tomorrow. You mention being patient with the process, and I imagine that is must more easily said than done. Hang in there!
I am tagging @timprince and @danab so they have a better chance of seeing your comment.
I am interested in your journey and hope you do come back and provide an update after your husbands evaluation. I am curious and have so many questions…..If you are comfortable sharing more, what has led up to this appointment, and how did you get to Mayo Clinic? And….how are YOU doing?

4 Reactions@pjw51 Hi Paula, So sorry I didn't see your post. I'm happy to share more about the process. I might mention that the best way to get a persons attention is to use their handle. Mine is @danab and yours as an example is @pjw51 If you include that with your message I will see a notice from the system in my email and thru the App.
I see you have started the process Last Friday. Your probably deep into it now but Ill be more than happy to share my experience during that time and any questions you may have. Also if you reply to this message I will also see your post. Looking forward to hearing more about His journey.
