@lcamino Lynn, I’ll be there for you. Should I be a nag? 😉 My husband used to go a gym all the time but then fell away from it. When I started going so regularly he was shamed into going again — I did not nag him. He does not go as often as I do but he does go about 3 times a week, which is good.

Good slogan, JK. You are most blessed by your attitude, it still inspires me and many others!

@contentandwell – Wow! I had no idea. I’m learning so much about the liver. And here I thought all your “worries” regarding your health, with the exception of your transplant, were in the past. You are wise to not agonize over the “what ifs” if you are able to. I had to do that after my daughter died instead of thinking “if only I had gone to the doctor sooner” etc. When there is nothing one can do to change an outcome – future or past – it is best to set it aside or it can really get you down. I think your technique, assuming it is working for you, is a wise one.

Good morning transplant friends!
In today’s blog post, we are learning more about one of Mayo Clinic’s favorite nephrologists, Dr. Ray Heilman from our Arizona site. Dr. Heilman is a kind and caring doctor with years of experience in nephrology and transplant, but some of his hobbies might surprise you. Have you ever hiked on a glacier? Read more about Dr. Heilman here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/newsfeed-post/meet-the-expert-raymond-heilman-m-d/.
Have a wonderful day today!

I am happy to report that I went through my final pre-transplant classes yesterday (Bladder, Yuck!). The main transfer RN said it would be under 6 months and the doctor said within one month that I should receive the call for a transplant !!! After a bad week, this sure does give me a little more strength, Oh and maybe because the doctor changed my meds and gave me a low-dose pain killer.
A month or a little more away !

Well that is good news! So glad your path to a transplant has made such a dramatic turn in the right direction. How was your anniversary? I haven’t had a transplant yet but I’m assuming your wife must attend all your pre-transplant classes?

Sounds like you had a good celebration and got it all in before you got under the weather. So glad you had that time together. It’s got to be tough being sick and not living in the same state as your wife.

I signed up for a clinical study called: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial to Compare the Efficacy of Ex-vivo Normothermic Machine Perfusion with Static Cold Storage in Human Liver Transplantation.
My doctors say it is safe.
Has anyone heard of this?

@keggebraaten Kristin, my transplant center gave me a schedule of what is typical in visits after transplant. I was basically ahead of schedule in my recovery so the time between visits lengthened more quickly than for many patients. At this point I am every three months but I expect that to change tomorrow when I have my appointment with my surgeon — September will be one year anniversary of my transplant. I haven’t checked the schedule but I presume it will go to every six months at this point. I can’t believe it’s been that long!
