I am happy to report that I went through my final pre-transplant classes yesterday (Bladder, Yuck!). The main transfer RN said it would be under 6 months and the doctor said within one month that I should receive the call for a transplant !!! After a bad week, this sure does give me a little more strength, Oh and maybe because the doctor changed my meds and gave me a low-dose pain killer.
A month or a little more away !

Well that is good news! So glad your path to a transplant has made such a dramatic turn in the right direction. How was your anniversary? I haven't had a transplant yet but I'm assuming your wife must attend all your pre-transplant classes?

Sounds like you had a good celebration and got it all in before you got under the weather. So glad you had that time together. It's got to be tough being sick and not living in the same state as your wife.

I signed up for a clinical study called: A Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trial to Compare the Efficacy of Ex-vivo Normothermic Machine Perfusion with Static Cold Storage in Human Liver Transplantation.
My doctors say it is safe.
Has anyone heard of this?

Hello everyone!
Today our blog post talks about your post-transplant life. Were any of you surprised by the level of follow-up care you received after your transplant or were you expecting it? We would love to hear from you on our blog today!

@keggebraaten Kristin, my transplant center gave me a schedule of what is typical in visits after transplant. I was basically ahead of schedule in my recovery so the time between visits lengthened more quickly than for many patients. At this point I am every three months but I expect that to change tomorrow when I have my appointment with my surgeon -- September will be one year anniversary of my transplant. I haven't checked the schedule but I presume it will go to every six months at this point. I can't believe it's been that long!

@contentandwell, so glad you are doing well enough to move to a lighter schedule of visits. It's great to see what everyone is accomplishing in this group. So happy for you all!
