CBD oil and depression/anxiety

Posted by lalyfa @lalyfa, Feb 24, 2018

I am curious to know if anyone has had success with CBD or Hemp oil helping with depression/anxiety? I’ve been reading a lot about it and am curious.
I’ve been reading about this and am very interested but would like thoughts/opinions from anyone who has actually tried it or knows someone who has. TIA

Thank you,
Laura

Now finding all that was mega important and it helped me feel better, but this depression is not going away until I take an action.
So my action to feel better will bring me my much needed CBD.
Ginger, I had a 33 year journey back from tremendous child abuse. I took my life back one step at a time, one action at a time.
I remember what helped and teach it.

Yes, I will be able to maintain my supply because I am now ordering directly from the company…no middleman.
I have a bit of money coming the end of the month, so will be ordering an extra months supply to keep on hand.
Its amazing, writing all that has hope flaring alive in me. It's been missed so much.
I am a nurse and have about 50 years mental health experience under my belt, so seeing the progression back to health and then the same loss of that wonderful life, wow, it startles me that CBD can made this much difference. I was just introduced to CBD last summer and have been gradually increasing the dosage. Found the right dose in Dec.
I will use this product for the rest of my life.

Dosage depends on what is going on in my body.
.
I am in a severe relapse of multiple sclerosis, I have had 2 brain events, TIA? In the last 6 months. I got off my antidepressant and the result is high anxiety at times. COPD
Other illnesses but those are the major ones.
When I have enough supply, I have been taking 50 mg 3 times a day. It has turned my life Around getting on it and again not having enough…
Listen to your body….it it's uncomfortable try some more.
What health challenges do you have if you would like to share…
.
Be sure to Google to see if your medications are compatible with CBD.

@brightwings I have found consistent dosing is key with CBS products, to maintain a good level in your system. Then tuck a bit more in when symptoms flare up.

I completely agree. Remember, I just found CBD last summer. Thought it was hippy crap.
So I gradually increased my dosage 50 mg a dose until I found 2400 mg a month held me steady.
So in November I bought 1200 mg and doubled it in December. But I started taking 50 mg a day in summer.
I hope this helps. BW

Checking in…Right now I can hardly smile. I also realize that minute by minute, I can feel my body sinking into depression. My brain, muscles, there is no life in me…no vibrancy. I am feeling an incredible weight.
.
Now realize, I am incredibly attuned to my body, mind and spirit, much more so than a usual person.
.
I moved in December, just 37 miles but out of the wilderness to the biggest city of the area. Southern Missouri…almost 4,000 folks here in this big city. Giggling, I used to be a Chicago girl.
I caught that giggle, did you?
My life instantly turned around from a secretly sad lonely 68 year old woman who isolated to being the Darling of the Senior Center and now also the local legion hall of Vets…
I was singing, telling jokes to the entire room alot, back to the extrovert I was raised to be, touching folks…why? Cuz no body touches old people…just saying…
Anyway, I was having the time of my life…I came alive, it was wonderful. Wow, look I am writing in past tense…interesting…as if that new life is gone. (Bear with me, not exactly rambling cuz there is intent in what I am doing…)
Singing is a gift that was just returned to me around valentines day after almost dying…I lost my ability to sing and play my mandolin because my multiple sclerosis took it in 2006. The biggest loss of my life.
.
So back to this wonderful life I had…
Monday I went to lunch at the senior center, and just didn't want to go to Monday nite music. Same as last week.
Tuesday, went to the Vets breakfast, but had not baked anything for it. Lunch as usual…home…
Today I chose not to go for coffee with the vets, even though I am told each time to sit at the Commanders table and the jokes do fly. Lunch, barely ate 1/3 of my lunch. Feeling so depressed. Not going to Thursday night music and did not bake for it.
.
Ok now the rest of the story.
.
The only thing that is different in my life is since December, I used to take 2,400 mg CBD each month. Because of lack of availability I was cut down to 600mg for this month.
The CBD allowed me to become the extrovert I am and the loss of the CBD sent me right back to the secretly sad, lonely depressed woman who is again starting to cut things out of my life that gave me thrills to participate in last month.
.
As I read this, I realize I don't care either. I can't believe I am saying all this and don't even care. Life with out CBD is no life for me.
.
Wow
.
CBD is being ordered first thing in the am, payday…
I WANT MY LIFE BACK.

@merry, is there any way you can copy this and post it in withdrawing from Effexor? Thanks..BW

@brightwings– I'm so sorry that you are feeling so down. Cant you order from another company where the product is readily available?

This is the group that discusses both. A lot of people read several groups during the day. Also you can copy and paste too.

@brightwings Hey Brightwings! I’m Karen. I have suffered from depression & anxiety for about 40 years. Drugs work, then slow down & stop working. Right now it’s bad. I can’t get out of bed and need help. The trouble is that I’m in pain due to RA and fibro. So drs want to take away my pain med or anxiety med. CBD oil is the answer to prayers. However I have questions I hope you can help me with. Exactly how do you apply it? My bottle say 725 mg which I thought was high, since it starts around 200. How do you decide how many mg to take? How do you decide how often to take it? I would appreciate this so much! Thanks!!!

Welcome Karen, I like your quest for health. Good for you. I am an empath and feel we have traveled the same paths of looking for answers and solutions to our health concerns. Never give up, the journey is worth it.
I have had 19 surgeries in my life and many life crippling events. One foot in front of the other gets you a long way. I humbly share I am an example of that.
.
So dosage and how to apply: hmmm, there are so many different types of CBD and methods of application out there.
.
Above all, trust your gut…..
.
I started out last summer at 50 mg a day after learning about it. I realized it helped. I felt better. So month by month, as finances allowed, I increased the amount of CBD in the bottle. I tried many different brands and costs. I gradually settled on Lazarus Naturals. I was getting CBD in coconut oil, 1200 mg for 50 bucks. That's the highest concentration I could find for the money.
So in December, I finally found the dosage that seemed to be the best for me. 25 mg three times a day. 25 mg 3xs a day.
I am correcting a previous post here. I wrote 50 mg 3 x's a day before. That is not correct as I was only taking 1/2 tsp each time. 50 mg per teaspoon is the concentration.
.
But start out somewhere and gradually increase it until you have a feeling of wellbeing. Only you know what that is for you. Stay at one level for a week or so and evaluate the changes. Your guts will tell you what to do.
.
Now as far as the AR, rub the CBD into the painful joints as needed. You will be glad you did. There are different products made for this kind of application. Or make your own by putting CBD liquid in coconut oil and rubbing that on. I am not a medical professional….just saying…
You have a strong spirit in you and it will take you far, both uphill and down….don't settle for bed. The fight is so worth it. You will be glad you did.
Smiling at you, keep coming back. I sense the wisdom in you. Bright Wings
.
I heard you loud and clear you are in bed. I spent 4 years in bed….don't want to do it again. Today, I'm planning on buying a kite, no 2 of them cuz flying kites is so much more fun with another. The moments of joy I get from flying the kites is so fulfilling, cuz I send myself up to ride the kite, even if only in my mind.
.
When I have challenges, I fight to take my life back, sometimes minute by minute, but today I live a victorious life.
Attitude is everything.

@brightwings– What I don't understand is the dosing because it varies so much. At first I went to my local compassion center. They recommended 10 mg doses so that's what I had been taking- then I switched to Charlotte's Web because it was 1/2 the price and went up to 11mg. I think that I need to increase it. THC makes me jittery but I was wondering if I combined a very low dose with cbd it might be more effective? What do you think?
