Alzheimer's age related forgetfulness I was told

Hello Thank you for your time and this site. I am Jim care giver for 73 year old wife with Alzheimer's every evening between 4-5 pm she gets very angry and agitated sun downers i have been told but no advice on what I can do to help her (us) through this. Thanks in advance for your help. Jim

When my husband had this difficulty, we found playing his favorite music helped. He was a Polka fan, so playing CDs of his favorite tunes helped calm him.

Hello @jimmy48 Nice to e-meet you here. I am sorry to hear of your wife's condition.

Sun-downing is a very common and real part of Alzheimer's and related dementias. With my mother-in-law we worked to have this time of her day be 'quiet time' with no visitirs, no tasks, etc. and @rmftucker said played her favorite music. In her case Italian music from her youth.

My wife also displayed sundown symptoms with her brain cancer and we did the same process with her. We even moved mealtime earlier and with her we had no music as it was too stimulating for her.

There is also medication very specific to help these situations I think - but I have seen it is stressful
