How do you deal with dry eyes?
I have dry eyes due to sjogren's syndrome. Does anyone else deal with dry eyes?

I used Systane for years. The more viscous the better…that helps a lot with dry eyes. I opted out of the restasis prescription because I didn’t want more complicated chemicals entering my ENT…gratefully, Marianne

2 ReactionsIt is good to read your posts: the on- going battle of working for diagnosis plus the irritants of dry eyes and dry mouth (to the point of the tissue sticking to the inside cheeks and eye lids.
I have tried multiple drops, but recently was prescribed, APO-OLOPATADINE. This stuff works, no stinging !!
Always a delightful surprise when something helps.
Best wishes to all, as we pres-on through this uncharted journey.

4 ReactionsI had a major issue with dry eye for about 6 months. When I checked the price for Restasis I decided the price was ridiculous-especially if it is not a guarantee that it will work- and decided to work on it on my own. I use an eye cup with saline solution-the type used for contact lenses to moisten my eyes when I get up in the morning and at night before bed. My left eye is dryer than my right so the problem is not completely cured but it is a lot better. Also, if you go outside in the wind at all, wrap around sunglasses may help. I found that being in a breeze or out in the sun will dry out my eyes so eye protection is needed.

1 ReactionI have Systane bottles with me all the time. PM ointment at night. Pataday (Olapatadine) helps if it feels like there is grit in your eyes. I also rinse my face and eyes with water and mild soap during the day. Gently scrub eyelids to activate tear ducts. It is important to manage the dryness to avoid corneal scratches, and if your vision is blurry it is often due to dryness. I second the recommendation for sunglasses and avoiding drafts. An eyemask at night, coupled with the drops may make a difference for you, also.

2 ReactionsI may have already posted about this, however, my opthamologist placed plugs into my tear ducts and the dry eye problem was solved. In fact, during a recent eye exam, the new opthamologist said the plugs are still in place and my dry eyes are no longer a problem. Once in a while I use lubricated eye drops and these are helpful as well.
Check it out.

1 ReactionI use Lubricating eye drops twice a day and, I use a lubricating gel at night before bed. I also run a humidifier in my room at night.
I don't quite need plugs yet. I just don't like to even consider them.

2 ReactionsHi, I was reading some really good suggestions for dry eye relief. I would like to add something my eye doctor recommended which has helped a lot which is fish oil capsules. I take a salmon oil capsule because I have other issues not allowing most fish. Over time this has made a big difference. But ask your doctor first, just to be sure it is ok for you. —-eirrol
