How do you deal with dry eyes?

I also have dry eyes (keratitis sicca) with punctata (small dry dots on the cornea). This was probably caused by a corneal debridement procedure to get rid of map dot fingerprint dystrophy.

I live in the Netherlands so the brandnames I will mention might not be available or marketed under other brandnames somewhere else:

- for daytime: Liposic Gel and Hylo Night ointment (the latter will give you blurred vision for a couple of minutes but it is worth it, the first one is a gel and does not blur vision, but alone liposic will not be sufficient for the day)

- for the night: duratears. This will blur the vision for a longer period, but you will be asleep anyway.

These gels and ointments helped much better than artificial tears and drops.

I do keep Hylan eyedrops near me though, in case I need to have clear vision suddenly.

Can you share your blink routine?
I would do anything to help with the dry eyes!

I use eye drops and ornament. Eyedrops during the day, and I meant at night. I’ve also had my tear ducts cauterized, and that has helped dramatically. I wish you the very best luck dealing with dry eyes. I also have dry mouth and I have found out it helps to swish water in my mouth before I swallow. I do think both of these are connected.

Hello, dry mouth and dry eyes issues are not nice at all. The name for this disorder is Sjogren disease. Yiu need to have a bloodtest ANA.
Hope this helps. There are special eye drops and a toothpaste called biotene, as well as a mouthwash for at night with the same name.

There’s another good toothpaste Salivea. For my eyes use Oasis eye drops. So far my eyes at night aren’t bad but I’ve been advised to use a gel ointment when they do bother me. All eye drops need to be preservative free.
I take oral hyaluronic acid and noticed when I skip it my eyes are drier. There is very little research on this though, just my personal experience.

My drugist recommend to try preservative free drops called hydrasense and they are helping me more than the drops I was taking before

I have very dry eyes and 2 bouts of filamentary keratitis-in both eyes both Xs. Both Xs I responded to mucomyst, or acetylcysteine
eye drops 4 Xs a day. It’s costly, and has to be obtained from a compounding Rx. It can run close to $100 a bottle, and is only good for 30 days. But it worked both times. Good luck. Eye pain is so hard to treat. About all that helps with that searing, burning pain are opioids, but health care providers are so afraid to recommend it. Sigh. FYI, I tried Restasis, but I got no relief from it.

I take oral hyaluronic acid. You won’t find much research on it but if I miss a dose my eyes are drier than normal.

Wearing a heated eye mask 2-3x daily for 10 min. Assists with gland moisture.
