My previous post was directed toward what has been your experience with Forteo, but because I brought up a concern of refrigeration most responses came back explaining Tymlos as an alternative option. Thank you, but Forteo was the recommendation for me and I am interested in feedback regarding that medication. Good and bad . Changes made in BMD. Side effects. And if you were on it years ago if any medical issues have come up way after the fact related to taking Forteo.

Hi @ellenanne33. I see you’re trying to connect with other members who have PERM. While I didn’t find the exact diagnosis, PERM is a subtype of Stiff-person syndrome. We do have a number of members who have been having conversations regarding their conditions.

@sheeva888, @bsnodgrass, @mdllama and other members have conversations in this link: When you click on this link you’ll see the discussion was started back in 2011. Underneath the opening paragraph, you’ll see a box that says Oldest to Newest. Click on that and you’ll be able to reverse the order to see the most current replies.

There’s not a great deal of information on PERM. It has to be incredibly frustrating and disappointing. I’m so sorry your husband is having to face these health problems. So many of our brave firefighters and other heroes who rushed to help the victims in the 9/11 tragedy are dealing with health issues possibly stemming from all the pollutants they were exposed to during that time.

Try the link I gave you for the Stiff person syndrome. Members there may have some valuable insights for you.

How do I search for group with same type of cancer?

Jump to this post

Hi @joyismystrength, Welcome to Mayo Connect!
Finding members with your type of cancer is fairly easy.
There are a couple of ways.
At the top of the Connect page you’ll see a long box that says, “search”. You can put the name of your cancer in there and enter. That should bring up several discussions.

Or, under the search bar, there is a menu which says:
Home. Support groups, Blogs & podcasts, Events…
Click on Support groups! That will take you to a list of all the groups in Connect.
You’ll see Cancers, Breast Cancer, Endometrial Cancer, etc… click on any that are appropriate and it will take you right to the discussions in that group.

Which type of cancer are you experiencing?

Hi and thank you for the reply. It is actually my husband who has been diagnosed with Epithelioid Fibrosarcoma stage 4. He starts chemo soon. I don't know much about cancer so I'm looking for help with what to expect and helpful tips. Thanks!
