Melatonin issue

Posted by ssmarilyn @ssmarilyn, 1 day ago

Anyone take melatonin at night and feel mentally off the next day? I took .25 mg, yes, 1/4 of a mg of melatonin last night, slept good and today I feel so mentally detached. I hate it! I've had insomnia since the change took over years ago and it bites!

Try chamomile tea.

I don’t use Melatonin, he has side effects.

Melatonin turns me into a zombie while not helping me sleep much at all.

I quit using it.

@scottrl it sure helps my sleep, but the way it affects my brain the next day is so scary!

@scottrl have you found any natural remedy that at least improves your sleep?

@ssmarilyn Actually, a little brandy in the evening will help.
But I only do that a couple times a week.

My lack of sleep is mostly due to the incessant pain I've had since having a stroke on Christmas Eve, 2018.

I talk about all this on my YouTube channel, "From Recovery to Discovery":

@scottrl I don't drink, so that won't do me any good. So sorry to hear of your stroke! I'll check out your Youtube channel.

It’s very risky using melatonin, in fact it’s banned in the UK. I find magnesium bisglycinate very effective, start low, about 80 mg., don’t follow what the packaging says, it’s usually too high and will cause stomach pain. Also the sleeping problems will eventually get better over time, it’s those crazy harmones that are to blame.

@frouke I understand melatonin is a prescription medication in the UK. It is OTC in the US. A dose of 1mg
is considered safe.
