Trying to decide between Breztri and Stiolto inhalers.

The Breztri inhaler causes so much phlegm and hoarseness, sometimes i can hardly speak. Do others have the same issue with Breztri. Is this a common side effect?

@pamelaaci
What is Ohtuvayre?

@jsh66 It is Ensinephrine used with a nebulizer. A link to their website:

Yes, I had the same problem with Breztri. I had heard great things about it, but after a week I was hoarse and felt tightness in my throat (not a great effect!). I had the same results with any inhaler that included a steroid. Went back to Stiolto (tiotropium and olodaterol), which works OK for me.

@capnjack, you need to rinse your mouth thoroughly and also gargle (and spit it out) after using Brez. On top of my head, I think it does say in the instructions that you need to rinse, but it also does not say to gargle, which will solve your problem (as it did mine)

@pamelaaci did adding the steroid component help with your breathing? I use stiolto, it’s ok but doesn’t open me up much but neither do rescue inhalers. I also have PH that may be the reason but no one knows for sure.

@tcarson52 how long have you had ph? What meds are you on for this. I just recently found out I had this.

@jovankovacic1953 yes! Definitely do need to double rinse that powder out of your mouth after use.

Tried it for a few months-give it a chance-had to stop as it caused arrythmias. Using Wixela and Spriva.

@lizjlb I take generic dapagliflozin & sacubitril both are to slow down heart and a mild diretic. It helps the strain on my heart as I understand it. It did help with breathing. Neither are PH medications. I don’t really understand all of it. Thinking of going to Shands to a specialist after my next pft test. I found out about 9 months ago, I think I’ve had it a while just didn’t know it. I had echo but it didn’t show it. The heart cath confirmed it as they measure pressure from the heart. I don’t know which caused the most shortness of breath. I think it’s the PH .

@tcarson52 why did they do a right cath if nothing showed up on echo? my echo showed borderline increase in pulm pressures. Wondered what they recommended to take. concerned because 1-3 yrs is not a good outcome. I wouldn’t be doing a pft test. that can really be hard on heart i would think.
I think my breathing got worse after a stress test. Would you please let me know what your future plans/meds are. I appreciate your reply. thanks.
