God Bless You. Best of Luck. My heart breaks for you. Joyce I am saying a prayer for you now and will keep you in my prayers. The narcissist is never healed through therapy. Please know that. Once a narcissist always a narcissist. My husband has been through therapy now for a year and a half. Yes, he is better for sure but relapses many times. Make sure that you have strong boundaries and review them and enforce them at all times to protect you. I am 71 years old and have lived with my narcissist husband for 44 years. I just went through lung cancer stage 1 surgery in February. He was very supportive and helped in many ways. But always remember that they are never really healed. Their narcissist character always comes back to haunt them and you. Be well

Don't they have to be diagnosed? I did mention to attorney that I believe my ex is a narcissist, but attorney just asked if a Dr. diagnosed it. No diagnosis because , ex never sought one. Ex would deny the very thought that he is one.
Does a diagnosis help your case ? Especially if it goes to trial? Can the courts demand a Dr. diagnosed report? Thank you anyone who can answer this
@gardenchef
You've endured for so long,
Can you share traits of narcissist behavior? I didn't realize my soon to be ex is was narcissist until recently, I'm trying to understand this behavior & how it's diagnosed.
I pray for your situation 🙏 May God give you strength, wisdom & peace

2 ReactionsI would suggest that you read the book It's Not You by Dr. Ramani Durvasula. The book explains a lot. It saved my life. Best of luck to you.

2 Reactions@dublin2019 Do you have access to YouTube? Dr. Ramani is an expert on narcissism. She has a YouTube channel that discusses almost anything you can think of on narcissism, including advice and techniques for living/staying in the marriage or with the person with narcissistic personality disorder. I would recommend listening to her. She helped me a lot in my experiences. Hang in there.

4 ReactionsHello @healthme,
You were asking about traits of narcissistic behavior. I found an article from Psychology Today magazine. Here is the link to the article.
https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/blog/communication-success/201409/10-signs-youre-in-relationship-narcissist
As you read the article, you will find more information on these characteristics. You mentioned in your post that you think that your soon-to-be ex is a narcissist. Does he have some of the characteristics listed in this article or different ones?

1 Reaction@healthme It is difficult to diagnose a true narcissist because they are so charming and able to manipulate well. Finding a shrink or therapist that specializes in personality disorders or is aware of NPD, is my best advice. My father was not diagnosed until well into his 60's and he and my mother had been to MANY therapists over the years. After his diagnosis, he told my mom he would not be "on a couch" for the rest of his life and proceeded to divorce and shatter my mom after 42 years of marriage.
