What sleep meds help you stay asleep?
I’m on a combo of Ambien and Seroquill. I knock out for exactly two hours and then. I’m just awake.

1 Reaction@1oldsoul I use the Hibernate Blueberry gummies with 10mg CBN and 5mg THC. Sometimes 1/2 of a gummy is enough. They are expensive from the Minny Grown website, $30 for 10 gummies. I was ordering them from a store in MN for $20 and they would mail them to me for $6 usually no matter how many packages I ordered. I will check with that store and see if that's still the case and then update this comment.
Minny Grown has sales every so often, sometimes 'buy one get one free' and that's when I would stock up. If you join their website as a member and provide your e-mail address, you will be notified when they have a sale.
I am 76. I also take 2mg melatonin at night. I hope your Dr will prescribe LDN, it's becoming more and more well known with doctors.

3 Reactions@luveachday curious what your mixture of magnesium compounds consist of?
I use Magnesium Complex, which is a combination of:
Magnesium oxide: leg cramps
Magnesium citrate: constipation
Magnesium glycinate : sleep aid
I find that taking this one capsule , two hours before bedtime and then Trazadone helps me to sleep.
I used to take them together, however magnesium blocks absorption of other meds.
By taking them , like I do, I am not waking up , every two hours.
It has greatly improved my sleep pattern.
I hope it helps you!
I have trouble getting to sleep and staying asleep doc suggested magnesium glyconate and L- theanine iit only tried them for a couple of days so far but they help
I take melatonin drops (365 brand), about 1 mg, some nights. Can help lull to sleep, but not a guaranteed knockout. Dayvigo 5mg has been working great for the occasional acute insomnia.
Been having an issue for a few months where on some nights my jaw shuts during sleep transition or light sleep, causing my teeth to click which sometimes wakes me up (thinking maybe SRFMM). This also maybe contributed to occasional "conditioned arousal" where I wake up during N1/N2 with no obvious cause. There have been occasional nights where I was up for many hours due to these, once or twice didn't get anything beyond N2 until the morning. I am also genetically predisposed to DSPD, if relevant.
I had initially tried my gf's Zolnox (aka Ambien), which knocked me out but I didn't continue taking it due to concerns with tolerance and long-term effects, and lethargy the next day.
From research, I found that Dayvigo didn't have these issues, so after some doctor-hopping last month, I found one that prescribed me a 30-day supply of 5mg (but I only use it when I need to; expires in a year). I self-paid to circumvent the insurance hurdles ($135 with an easily-obtainable coupon). I've taken it several times and it's worked well for me. Asleep generally within 20-30 minutes. No hangover the next day. Using it I was even able to get hours of deep sleep in Economy on an overnight flight, which is unusual (we'd all like a Business seat where we can lay down fully for every flight, but not always possible).
Last night, I went to bed at midnight. Teeth clicks during N1 and N2 stages disrupted. Melatonin drops ~1mg at 2 AM weren't enough. Dayvigo 5mg at 4 AM. Crashed soon, slept over 7 hours. Had pretty crazy dreams, which I didn't seem to the prior times I took it. Interesting though.
That said, Dayvigo working well was my own experience. And likewise with the meds the others here mentioned - their own experience. From all the anecdotes I've read, it seems sleep med efficacy is highly variable depending on the person (genetics etc) and the cause for sleeping issues. Everyone has a different list of what currently works for them and what doesn't. Unfortunately Dayvigo is one of the harder meds to obtain to see if it works for you, especially if you want to use insurance since from my understanding they'll want you to do step therapy first (e.g. they'll require you to try one of the cheaper meds first, like Ambien).
I became addicted to ambien so I stopped that. Trazadone works well with no drug hangover.

3 ReactionsI'm going to try Quviviq. Does anyone have experience with that? I currently take Trazadone 75 mg. which only helps me sleep for 5 hours and is addictive.
I took ambien years ago and it left me tired all day at work. I retired last year and I take trazadone which works better. I heard women have a hard time clearing ambien. Melatonin really doesn't work for me. This struggle with insomnia has been really hard. I'm 62 I guess it's part of aging but a miserable part.
@laurabamford4015 my cardiologist recommended trazodone but can’t prescribe it. My GP hasn’t gotten back to me about it.
What dose works for you?
Mirtazapine was just horrible!
