Gaining weight and restoring reasonable muscle mass at 60+
I have turned 68 and my weight has been reducing despite maintaing balanced diet. Recently, I joined the gym to stay fit and restore reasonable muscle mass. I hope I am on the right path to strengthening my maturing body.

@longboat1 Try my smoothie every morning. It consists of Oat milk, yogurt, vanilla ice cream flavored whey powder, hemp hearts, frozen bananas, frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries and frozen cherries. You will never be lacking for protein ever again and it tastes amazing.
I recommend this for anyone looking to add protein to their diet.
Try it and let me know what you all think.
PS Costco has the best prices on whey powder and frozen fruit. It is half what you pay at your local supermarket.

6 ReactionsThanks! That looks amazing. Do you have a recipe?
@longboat1 Please make certain the frozen fruit is sugar-free and has no artificial sweeteners. Otherwise you could be eating a sugar bomb. Good luck!

1 Reaction@daveshaw Do you ever use protein powder? I’m thinking of using it to build up my protein.
Thanks, Becky

1 Reaction@longboat1 You buy some Oat milk Batista style
A big bag of Costco soy protein vanilla ice cream flavor
A really good low sugar yogurt
Hemp hearts
A large bag of frozen blueberries
A large bag of frozen strawberries
A large bag of frozen
cherries
Get some ripe bananas and peel a freeze
Put in 4 ounces of oat milk
Two large spoonfuls of yogurt
Three teaspoons of hemp hearts
One frozen banana
One cup of blueberries
One cup of strawberries
One cup of cherries
Make sure you have a powerful blender. The Ninja 1500 watt commercial blender
Hit blend and you have enough for you and a friend. Kids love them as well but just don’t tell them about the oat milk, hemp hearts or soy powder.
You get enough protein for the whole day.
Enjoy.

2 Reactions@becsbuddy I think whey powder is better for you and Costco vanilla ice cream flavor is a must for the smoothie. You can put two servings in instead of one.

1 Reaction@longboat1 The amount of protein that you need depends on your weight. Its not one size fits all for everyone.
