Grover's Disease: What works to help find relief?

Posted by 43219876x @43219876x, Sep 23, 2016

I have been diagnosed with Grover's disease under my breasts. I had a biopsy for diagnosis. Tried topical ointment with no really good results. Any ideas?

I am seeing more and more about mercury being tied to Parkinson's and Grovers. Now, if only the medical community would concentrate on the mercury removal instead of steroids we might see some progress. Many other sites are touting the benefits of cilantro now and many are having success with it. It is wonderful to know that this group was the first to share the cilantro success story. I am forever grateful because once my Grover's went away, it STAYED away. I do have an occasion cilantro smoothie eery once in a while just to be on the safe side.

MariannJ I'm so happy that like me your GD was put into remission with cilantro. You make a good point about the need of the medical community to focus on successful alternatives to steroids. I hate to be negative, but they have no motivation because steroids are only a temporary fix and there is big money in them.
You are more diligent with the occasional cilantro smoothie. Since Dec of 2019 I have only had one or two. I got used to the taste drinking it daily and even started to find it refreshing, but ugh I've lost the taste for it. I will go back on them again if symptom's come back.

MariannJ and Gardeningjunkie It seems we are the OG's of the Cilantro "cure" and are it's biggest proponents! Who would have thought that mercury removal is actually something that works for GD? I was super skeptical about Cilantro, it seemed like just another "snake oil" but I was desperate and willing to try anything. I am so glad I did! I am happy to hear more and more people are taking this seriously, even though we can't get anyone in the medical community to do the same. We have all learned that WE must be our own best advocates. We need to keep spreading the word so that less people suffer needlessly with this horrible disease. I know it doesn't help everyone, but for those it does, it's a godsend. One day the medical community may catch up, but it's unlikely as they won't make any money off of a cure you can get at the supermarket for less than a dollar a day! I should probably do a maintenance "dose" too! It's been over a year and a half since my last smoothie! Thank you both for all you do in this community! Happy Holidays and well wishes for the New Year!

Hello again. This is where I stand now. Back of hands itching will wake me if I don’t keep them uncovered. Use ice back to fall back asleep. Also dermatologist did not tell me to keep Triamcinolone Acetonide 0.1% off my hands. Right hand finger tips thin skin with fissures. (very sensitive) Back of left hand has thin skin that looks like 90 year old person.
Took me 25 days and 3 pounds steroid twice a day on chest and back to get here. Took showers 87F between applications.
So three things remain now; 1)itching hands, 2)thin skin back of left hand, 3) right hand finger tips thins skin and split. Additionally, have developed Neuropathy. Skin feels like mild sun burn plus gets hot spots here and there off and on, and tingling. (I can live with the neuropathy, is does not itch.

Have you checked into allergy testing. 5 Day Extended Patch test, it will be possible if your back has cleared up. Even if it hasn't get in to see a doctor licensed to perform it for an evaluation.

Will get to Allergy Test. Right now the "neuropathy" not bothersome, however the Hands are the itch place. Sleep with room temperature at 62 or lower, and hands not under blanket avoiding any heat. Works ok. My hands got skin atrophy from steroid. (Never warned to keep off hands) Going to hand specialist Christmas Eve daytime. Have been to this hand specialist several times before "Trigger Finger" (minor surgery). Note taking 300Mg Gabapentin for the nerve problem now. Want the hand problem examined first to see options. PS: Get a minor itch on back ( less than mosquito bite)on bank if clothing is too hot. My hobby, old cars (got 3) requires strong hands and fingers. I hope everyone has an Average Christmas. Average is good enough for me.

Working with old cars involves working with metals. You really should consider a heavy metal detox.

Yes, lead, zinc, etc... How does one brew cilantro? What would be schedule for taking it?
Next week I will plan allergy testing.
Dermatologist prescribed non-steroid for itching. Tacrolimus ointment 0.1% at $128 for 60g. After reading the the warning, too many doubts about using it. Plus the dermatologist is hard to assess.

I buy cilantro and freeze in freezer bags. Usually a half stalk in each. Take one bag, put in blender with a small carton of Yoplait yogurt, add orange juice and liquefy into a smoothie. Makes enough for 2 glasses. I take one glass per day. Was on the wagon for a year but it’s come back a little so I’m back to smoothies. The yogurt and OJ make for a good drink. And my Grovers goes away.

Been doing the smoothies for almost a year now, every day. I also freeze the cilantro, similar recipe. Although my Grovers has not disappeared, I feel that the smoothies have limited it's spread. Right now, I suffer from small localized rashes and itching that will change location on, essentially, my stomach. I am usually unaware of it during the day. If I do start to itch, generic hydrocortisone comes to a temporary rescue.
