Whipple or no Whipple?
I know we're all different in what we decide is best for us. Just need some comfort knowing my husband might decide to not go further by having the Whipple procedure. I respect his decision if that's what will be. Has anyone decided on not having the procedure. Ty

@johnny1955 today I got results of my recent PT scan. The pancreatic cancer has returned. Apparently chemo won't do anything except prolong the inevitable so I may not try it. Anybody else with this diagnosis. By the way, I am 87 years old.

3 Reactions@gsf look up Dr Nissen at cedar Sinai in California.. he performs whipple with vascular reconstruction… we will be getting his opinion and was recommended to us from someone whose family member had this procedure done
@cwilliams34 Thank you for the suggestion. Dr. Truty also does the vascular reconstruction but, given what he told us about the increased risk of death and the ongoing side effects of the surgery, my wife opted to not have it done. I wish you luck with Dr. Nissen!
@jerryc131 It's good you have a great team behind you. Took the Doctors 8 months to finally get my husband's stage 3 diagnosed. Also at the head. We have a repeat scan today to see if the arteries ECT are intended. Prayers it isn't. It can be a long journey for sure. Im preying for you BOTH. It's hard for both of you. 🙏

1 ReactionPrayers it’s a clean scan🙏🏻🙏🏻
Husband had the biopsy Monday. Pathologist said initial look of the pancreas mass is suspicious and is probably cancer. Full report in another few days.
How do they determine what “stage” one is in?
Again, prayers there is no further involvement in your husband’s cscan.

1 Reaction@tomrennie Scaniety is definitely real. However if religious, say the short prayer, “Jesus I TRUST in you”. Jesus loves you and only wants the Best for you - whatever the outcome is. God works in mysterious ways. It’s Gods will,…offer your stress up to go.
I understand easy to say, but hard to do. I try every 6 months when I go to Mayo for my MRI.
