What is your blood thinners medication?

I take around 6 to 6.5mg of warfarin each day. My INR ranges about 2.3 to 2.8, and usually 2.5.
I missed a dose one time only and INR dropped to 1.8.
So I am wondering where my little boat fits into the fleet? Are these numbers like those of other people?

We are in roughly the same boat. I take 5 mg of Warfarin 3 days per week and 2.5 mg 4 days per week to keep my INR between 2 and 3.

I am lucky. I take 81mg Bayer low dose Asprin every morning.

I take a 345 mg aspirin daily right before bed for MANY years. About 6 months ago due to paroxysmal atrial fibrillation my doc started me on Eliquis/Apixaban 5mg twice a day.

Guess there is a reason you don’t take any new medication like Eliquis Maybe insurance won’t cover but I would talk to your doctor .and discuss a different blood thinner There are many and some have genetic options so they would tend to be less expensive . Not knowing why you still take Warfarin I’m just guessing Best

My doc has offered Eliquis but I have stuck with Coumadin based on cost. On my Plan D Eliquis would cost about 2 grand a year, and Coumadin is basically free. I don’t mind my monthly INR checks since I am retired and have plenty of time.

I had a STEMI two years ago and had 5 stents placed. I was on Plavix and two baby aspirin per day for the first year. Now the Plavix has been discontinued and I’m still on the two baby aspirin per day. My cardiologist won’t let me stop it at all to have a kidney biopsy to check for lupus nephritis. Anyone else with cardiac stents who needed to discontinue aspirin for a short period of time?

I take apixaban twice a day. I was started on Rivaroxaban but was dizzy. Dr seemed a bit hesitant to change meds until I informed her I was taking another medicine at night. It seems there’s a tendency for people to forget the evening dose.

Being that we are on the topic of blood thinners and related medications, rather than hijack this thread, I am going to start another thread on the topic of the Ankle Brachial Index which is a directly related topic and issue of gauging arterial plaque and the risk of stroke or heart attack.

My doctor recommended that I check out the Canadian Pharmacy site. I’m now getting from them the generic equivalent to Eliquis and the cost is significantly lower than the copay I had been paying for Eliquis.
