Does anyone have a solution to help manage Reclast side effects?

Posted by dingus @dingus, Aug 15, 2024

Does anyone have a solution to combat Reclast side effects. I had the infusion a year and a half ago and the side effects started shortly after I had the infusion. I still have weak legs, swelling in feet, pain in bones, dizziness (serious dizziness), cold sweats, tired all the time and nervous twitching in bones. Any suggestions?

I had the same side effects. Several times I thought I was going to die. I hurt all over as well, but never got dizzy. I am functional, but I know I would be better had I not had Reclast!
I ordered chlorophyll. It is mint flavored. Mix with water and drink. It cleans cells and works on whole body. I use a heating pad often. I had my infusion about three years ago. It was a poison to my body and I will never take it again.

Hello, has the chlorophyll helped? I did the recast IV 3 weeks ago and I feel like you do about it poisoning my body. I was healthy prior to taking it and now I feel sick everyday. I just pray all these negative side effects go away. I felt all the flu like symptoms plus I felt I was being poked hard on my right breast. I literally felt like I was going to die. Now I have no energy and I still get headaches, neck aches, chills, fever, cold sweats at night, dizziness, blurry vision, depression, and loss of appetite.

I experienced shoulder pain, left leg pain, left foot pain, nausea and the feeling of be exhausted all the time. I’ve been going to physical therapy and most symptoms have diminished to a degree after 9 months. I’ve spoken with the endocrinologist and he did not think it was from the Reclast; I do! Knowing that the symptoms from the Reclast, knowing that you have not done anything else to cause these symptoms. Try to exercise, stay active knowing that this will pass! Hopefully! I’m trying to look at it positively! Your mind is very powerful and if you can convince yourself that you are in control of these symptoms and try finding other things to do outside sitting and thinking about these symptoms, Hopefully, in time the symptoms will diminish; that’s my hopes anyways. I retired in August of 2023, in July 2024 had the infusion and the day after the infusion, have had symptoms ever since; although I can say they have lessened and hopefully continue to lessen. Worst part is, endocrinologist wants to do another infusion this coming June and I Honestly, do not know what to do! I’m 68 years old and do not want this to continue

Hello I’m happy to hear that your symptoms are diminishing. I feel tired every day and the endocrinologist told me the same thing about the symptoms not being from the Reclast and I don’t agree with him. I will not let him talk me into doing that again. I will take my chances without that horrible “medicine”. Thanks for the suggestions for helping with my symptoms. Did the chlorophyll work for you? I’m going to see if I can do some sort of IV cleanse treatments.

I am not sure what the Reclast actually did as far as bone density because I have not had my blood drawn again yet! As for having any kind of flushing, I thought of that and then changed my mind because I feel the endocrinologist works hard to try and talk one into something and I’m not taking any chances! I’m meeting with a primary tomorrow and was going to try and run my symptoms by to her and see what she has to say for a reply. Only biggest issue is my left foot. Right out of the blue while walking it starts burning like I’ve stood on a hot coal. If I remove my shoe and sit for maybe 10 minutes I’m able to resume my activities. I do hope it improves before lawn mowing season and I’m trying to purchase a self propelled to assist me. Biggest thing is, don’t let it control you, you need to control it. The pain itself can make one feel exhausted; Stress!

I've had no side effects whatsoever but the Reclast infusion did not do anything the first year does it take longer than a year to get your bones stable in your spine? Frustrating
Sorry you're going through all these side effects.

Is reclast the first osteoporosis drugs you've taken or have you taken forteo, tymlos or evenity yet?

REPLY

First time taking anything for osteoporosis. My endocrinologist wanted me to have Evinity but my insurance won't cover it.

Did your Dr file an appeal? Would you mind sharing your T score and if you've had any fractures? Thanks.

My t score minus 4.4 and no fractures. I see my endocrinologist in April so I'm going to talk to him about it why it might have not worked the first time. I'm not sure what you mean by did he file an appeal on what?

REPLY

I have heard that doctors can file an appeal to the insurance company asking them to reconsider their denial of coverage. I've seen comments from others that their insurance companies eventually decided to cover treatment.

My T score is close to yours and I also have no fractures. So far I am not on any bone medications.

Have you been on any bone drugs? Thanks.
