Our Pets Bring Us Joy

In so many posts folks share, pets come up a lot.
I thought I'd start a new topic where we can share photos of our pets, furry, scaly, whatever.
Bonus points if they're in a Halloween costume. 🎃
This is our rescue, Freja. She is an Australian Cattle Dog (and we have no cattle).
She has become my therapy dog with no training, she just knows when I'm upset and comes to me.
As they say, who rescued whom?

@judimahoney Well it WAS quite the zoo..lol!! Hoping to get my "zoo back" .on a smaller scale.. just 1 cat (2 ferals ) and 3 dogs..from shelter soon.. when I met my husband (my husband before that had passed with a heart attack.. we really had a zoo on 20 acres fenced.. 2 outside dogs, 1 inside dog..22 cats, (4 inside)2 pot belly pigs.. 2 hogs , 2 cows, rabbits he raised, a horse and colt , chickens and 2 ducks and he had a turkey that followed him around..and inside..I raised canaries and parakeets and finches..when Dave met me.. (over the phone at my best friends instance) He said.."I don't like cats".. I said you better learn to ..I have 22...hahaha!! He learned!! his "pocket kitty"..:)

@judimahoney THANK YOU! Our girl, Frankie, needed to be put to sleep yesterday. She had cancer and could no longer hold water down. It was time. She blessed our lives for 12 years and was a stray that would not leave. Hubby was definitely her person. She loved me but ADORED Daddy.

We stopped by the adoptions to cheer ourselves up and an 11week old chihuahua terrier mix and I locked eyes and couldn’t leave without her. Her name is Nina.

Oh dear, little Frankie angel so very sweet. Losing a pet is so hard because they are family.
So very sorry for your loss.
And welcome Nina! Sounds like you have big shoes (paws) to fill.

My husband and I have pretty much always had dogs. Previous to our most recent dog, we had two: a Havanese who lived to be 17 and a 1/2 and a poodle mix, whom we rescued. They both passed away within months of each other in 2022. We waited a few month snd then we adopted Desi. We named him Desi because we thought he was part Havanese. a Cuban breed. So he's named after Desi Arnaz. I found out later that Desi is short for Desidario. Which translates as "desired" or "longed for child." And that he is. As it turns out, he's 40% poodle, and 40% Chihuahua! He's about 8 years old now and the sweetest thing ever.

@judimahoney such a great idea! Even though we can’t have a pet right now, just seeing the photos and reading comments makes me smile. Freja is a beautiful dog. ❤️
