Oral lichen Planus: What home remedies or medications help you?
Anyone in the group suffer from Oral Lichen Planus. I am at my wits end with all these erosive sores in my mouth. I've had two biopsies , one in the inside cheek and one under the side of my tongue. The spot under the tongue is extremely sore to touch and has been for over a year. It scares me because the soreness never goes away, sometimes it isn't as sore but nothing helps. Any home remedies for this dreadful condition?

I developed Lichen Planus after my second confirmed Covid infection. (Literally, the second day of illness) Having no clue, and in the middle of switching to a new doctor, I went from September to end December untreated, and was very bad when diagnosed. I had been experimenting with a full red light blanket for long covid, and my mouth started to heal. I found a cheap ($30) red light belt on Temu and Amazon (both places sell similar belts for $30-$35) rated for red and UV light. I turn that belt into a circle with the velcro...put it at the highest setting (4) for 20 minutes 3x/week, and it has gone into remission. It only comes back slightly when migraines prevent me from remembering to treat it.
Otherwise, I use Hydroxyapatite Toothpaste, but no mouthwash.
I hope this is able to help someone.
@laurelsorensen Wait--how do you use a red light belt for an oral problem like oral lichen planus?
Red light penetrates through the skin several inches. I make a circle using the velcro on the belt there is a section of about 4 inches that is not lights where the belt overlaps, and is velcro. But almost all of the circle is lights on the inside. I slip the belt over my head, and set it for 20 minutes, level 4, both uv and red light. While the belt is on my head, I keep my mouth open so the light gets through the skin, but is also able to get to the inside where bone would stop it from penetrating. When the 20 minutes is over, the light automatically shuts off.

2 ReactionsIt sounds like you’re under a lot of distress and the things that you’re using are not working so well. You know it can’t hurt to try rinsing your mouth with salt water one or two times a day. with salt maybe two times a day or one time a day because salt lowers the inflammation and I don’t think it would be harmful but check with your doctor first!!! I hope you feel better soon!!!
