Hello @rblogan, Welcome to Connect. It sounds like you may have a hammer toe which is pretty common with neuropathy from what my neurologist told me. I shared my story in another discussion here - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/comment/310341/.

Have you been diagnosed with peripheral neuropathy? How long have you had the symptoms?

My husband just read about a study written up in a medical journal about fasting from 2pm to 8am or thereabouts to help relieve neuropathy pain and discomfort. Is this a thing you are aware of and is it valid?

Welcome @marthamurphysc, The good news is that it doesn't cost anything to try it and it does help with losing weight. I've been doing intermittent fasting for a couple of years now and it's helped my lose some weight and more important for me, keep it off. I mostly do a 16, 18 or sometimes 20 hour fast. If you have a smartphone you can download an app that makes it easy to keep track of your fasting - https://zerolongevity.com/.

Here's are a couple of articles on the topic:
-- Bugs improve nerve regeneration:
fasting-induced, microbiome-derived metabolite enhances peripheral nerve regeneration: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41392-022-01186-6
-- Intermittent Fasting: Potential Utility in the Treatment of Chronic Pain across the Clinical Spectrum:
https://www.mdpi.com/2072-6643/14/12/2536

I don't have pain with my neuropathy but I do think it's helping some with the numbness I have. There is also a discussion on the topic that you might want to read through to learn what others have shared.
-- Low-carb healthy fat living. Intermittent fasting. What’s your why?

Is your husband tried any other treatments to help with his neuropathy pain?

Good evening @marthamurphysc, it is great to meet you. Do you remember the name of the publication? I see that @johnbishop has responded to your post about fasting. I think he has the answer to your questions. So....maybe we can get him back here to explain the process in greater detail for you. Here is the link to the LCHF intermittent fasting support group.

I do know that John has no pain with his small fiber peripheral neuropathy. However, his other symptoms do require attention and persistence.

Is it you or your husband that is dealing with neuropathy pain and discomfort?

May you be free of suffering and the causes of suffering.
Chris
