know any causes of Chronic Nausea?
I'm really really seeking any type of insight into unusual or rare causes of chronic nausea. I am a 27yo female and have had chronic moderate-severe nausea daily for going on 10 months with no known cause. I have ruled out pregnancy and GERD, and know that it is not from anxiety (I am a MH professional). It is seriously debilitating and I have seen many specialists that all have coincidentally found something but not the cause of the nausea. The other symptoms I have include headaches, palpitations/PVC's, chronic fatigue, occasional nightsweats, dizziness/chest discomfort when standing up, and just an overall sense of unwellness. In the midst of this search for answers I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's, but dont believe it's the cause for many of these symptoms as the lump in my throat feeling and fatigue have improved a little w/ Hashimotos treatment but most of the symptoms I mentioned previously have only continued to get worse. Does anyone know of any possible causes for the symptoms I have been struggling with, particularly the nausea? Or is anyone familiar with Hashimotos and has had a similar experience of having this intense persistent nausea for months?? I feel like my medial providers aren't thinking outside the box and aren't taking it as seriously as I am to consider potential causes. I feel very desperate as I can feel myself getting sicker. This will sound dramatic but since I have only continued to get sicker over the past 10 months its hard not to wonder if I have some type of serious illness thats just going untreated. Thanks in advance.

Hi just wondering if you managed to find a solution or proper diagnosis? Really hope you are feeling better now. Simlilarly I have had nausea for just over a year now. I’ve had a few weeks here and there where it’s subsided but generally it’s every day from when I wake up until evening. Appetite has diminished too. Desperate to find something to help as life is currently pretty miserable . Had lots of tests - endoscopy, lumber puncture, brain MRI etc Have not really had a positive diagnosis but this all started when I had a virus, so I’ve been put in the Long Covid / CFS/ME category .

4 Reactions@falmouthgirl I too had all those similar symptoms for over 25 yrs! It felt like morning sickness 24 hrs a day. Sure the intensity would change at times but the issue was always there UNTIL September 2024. My rheumatologist did a bone density and I do have osteopenia so she ran the lab for celiac as those 2 go hand in hand and my T1D (type 1 diabetes). The lab show high possibility of celiac. I confirmed it with my GI dr. Even if it wasn’t celiac and Gluten Intolerance symptoms the same. Look up symptoms of celiac. Dizziness, nauseous, rash, fatigue, and the list goes on. I was dx with IBS and SIBO. the IBS seems to have subsided being gf however SIBO is there but not even a 16th of the issue. I felt 180% better just 2 months away from gluten to this day, about year and a half, I have not intentionally eaten gluten and the symptoms are little to none Just a thought. Also when you feel nauseous I have a small vial of essential peppermint oil and smell it. That helped me. Also smelling alcohol. The wipes. A nurse told me that and it also has worked for me. I have only felt nauseous a handful of times since gf. I now can have a life! The gut is the brain of your body! Best of luck to you. It is miserable.

4 Reactions@dogloverinfl thank you so much for responding to me , glad to hear you are not suffering anymore. I was apparently tested for celiac and gluten intolerance when I had my endoscopy. However I feel a bit unsure as to if they actually did those tests as I’ve never seen any results and when I requested them there was only details of my endoscopy, not of any further lab tests. Umm. I’ll give GF diet a go and see what happens. Will also try the peppermint idea, thank you for your suggestions and kind words.

1 ReactionGlad it helped! You may just be gluten intolerant also. You should notice a difference after even 2 weeks even if it is very slight. Please let me know how it goes. I'm excited for you!

2 ReactionsI have had Hashimotos for years. Started getting severe nausea and throwing up daily. Was tested ( positive) for Gastroparesis. Also Rheumatologist thought my RA was causing inflammation in my gastric system.
I have several issues but a series of Rituxan infusions have helped me.
Hope you find answers soon

3 ReactionsHave you been tested for gastroparesis? It wouldn’t be unusual for you to have it, particularly with the diabetes. It’s surprising you haven’t been tested. A gastric emptying scan can be done to find the transit time of food. An autoimmune neuropathy caused my gastroparesis. The susmptoms you describe are spot on. I hope you get the help you need. It is miserable.

2 ReactionsI developed an acidic toxic condition from taking NSAIDS . I also was drinking a lot of coffee and tea from a new Keurig. I did not have GERD, just chronic nausea from the acid. Taking a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) for a short time did work, although I do not recommend staying on them for more than a few months due to side effects. Today I still have to watch my diet but the daily nausea is gone.

1 Reaction@dogloverinfl I’ve just done a home test kit for Celiac and Gluten intolerance and came up negative. I did also have a food intolerance test 6 months ago which only showed up dairy intolerance and Brazil nuts! So I’m thinking it’s not that. And so the detective work continues…
