Is an aneurysm over 50mm (5.2cm) dangerous?
I have been diagnosed with an aortic aneurysm 52mm. In a letter from the vascular drs they describe the aneurysm as 'below the threshold for intervention' while I thought that if it were over 50mm I would be in danger of a rupture. what is your opinion on this?

Good morning Pattiej,
Just stay positive and believe in a good outcome.
My surgeon said to me: "I wish I had more patients with your positive attitude ".
I said " we all work together in this process, and everybody is important ".
God bless you 🙏

3 ReactionsI was just told I had an aneurysm on my aorta and it hasn’t hemorrhaged yet. But off hand that they have said nothing about treatment, surgery or even the danger of having one. Hope you’ll have better luck than me on that one. Get well, Robert
Did they give you an indication of size? Any follow ups? Did they say if it’s abdominal/descending or ascending?
You have the right to know more and have some indication of treatment, follow up, prognosis etc

1 ReactionCouldn’t agree with you more houston13, and it just so happens that I’ll be seeing my Cardiologist this morning with those very questions even though I got the report and images on “my chart” before they did. So I both agree and thank you for arming me with those very specific questions you advised. Sincerely, Robert or Chebo54 which ever you prefer.
You need to pursue this with better doctors and educate yourself. Most of us here have done our own research and learned much more than our doctors told us at first. Perhaps that's deliberate in an effort not to be overly alarming, but we are alarmed and we need to know. Good luck and keep asking questions.
Thank you and I do do my own research however this forum does provide more than just research but actual, real people who have or are experiencing the same issues I’m having. I do believe that is what these forums are really all about- people that don’t just think they know but are actually experiencing it- but perhaps you see it otherwise. Hope you get better soon.
Just got back from cardiologist and he said it was so infinitesimal that he wouldn’t even call it an aneurysm and was no cause for concern and set me up with some further testing, but then said “wow, I didn’t even know that you were dealing with stage 4 lung cancer and stage 4 prostate cancer as well. All in all I’d say you’re doing pretty damn good!” He answered all my questions to my satisfaction. Thanks again for helping me. Some chick I think kind of admonished me saying, “we all do our own research and I need to ask dr more questions- I’m still not sure if I should be offended- no, wait a minute, that’s impossible I don’t have the kind of ego that can be bruised by such Yakity yak!
