Insomnia, depression, anxiety

So here I am it’s 4 am I have been awake since 3 am I often wake up. I can’t go back to sleep. I can’t text my friends I could be they would ask why I was texting so early. I tried my usual sleepy time tea, Clonazepam, deep breathing etc etc and I still wake up! I remember when I was I in the hospital I would call the nurse and I would have morphine injected into my IV port and that would help me sleep. I can’t have morphine. OxyContin also made me sleepy. Can’t have that anymore I ran out. It would be so nice if I could get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Maybe someday.

Curious about why you almost wound up in ER from tapering of Ativan.

Garden variety withdrawal: cut, dose I don't remember, in half, week later my blood pressure spiked 2xx/1xx. Literally on the way out the door I searched withdrawal side effects and realized what happened. The Benzo drugs are terrible and habit forming.

For people like me, antihistamines have a paradoxical effect - they wire me up! When I was forced off my 1 mg of Klonopin at bedtime after 12 years, leaving me a raving insomniac, I was first offered Vistoril, an antihistamine and when that didn't work, Remeron, which is an tricyclic antidepressant that acts like an antihistamine in your brain. It did not work either. A neurologist/sleep specialist prescribed 2 mg Lunesta and it works to help me sleep, but I am having night sweats again (65 so this is not menopause) which wake me frequently. At least I can go back to sleep, but it is not uninterrupted. Also some nights, I have leg cramps that get me out of bed. But some sleep is better than no sleep, and I am calmer when I wake up.

You might want to try Pramipexole .25mg for the leg cramps. I RLS and occasional leg cramps and this drug has helped eliminate them.

I read up on it - sounds like a pretty serious drug that can interact with sleep aides (I take Lunesta) and the top side effect listed was insomnia. Doesn't sound like a good fit for me. I take magnesium and have some magnesium cream I'm going to start using at night on my feet and legs. This does not happen nightly. I've had 2 nights of good sleep without sweats or cramps.

Did you try to google your leg cramp issue. I found out my toe cramps are due to a mineral deficiency so I am taking it and no more cramps.

I used to get really bad leg cramps. Took an over the counter pill which helped but then I ended up in hospital for other reasons and they checked my magnisum,,,,,,,which was never done before that I know of. anyway it 1 and thats the lowest number. And low magnisum can cause leg cramps. It took awhile to get my magnisum level up but succeeded. Cramps are few and far between now.

I take 4 tablets a day of the magnesium plus had one round of it straight into my veins. My count was down to one and it took awhile to get it above. Its ok now but still take the magnesium
Good luck to you

@help4meandu Sleep problems are the worst! I , too, hate to turn on a light at night, so my husband got me one of his headlamps that the used when he goes out to stargaze. I just lights up a very narrow area focused on the book. Works well for me!. says Energizer

@becsbuddy and @help4meandu … or, perhaps you could get one of those book lights that clip on to your book …? I read everything and play all my games on my iPad Mini so don’t need additional light. We have a dusk to dawn plug in night light in the bathroom so I never have to turn on the bathroom light either.
