Insomnia, depression, anxiety

Posted by azkidney57 @azkidney57, Jan 11, 2020

So here I am it’s 4 am I have been awake since 3 am I often wake up. I can’t go back to sleep. I can’t text my friends I could be they would ask why I was texting so early. I tried my usual sleepy time tea, Clonazepam, deep breathing etc etc and I still wake up! I remember when I was I in the hospital I would call the nurse and I would have morphine injected into my IV port and that would help me sleep. I can’t have morphine. OxyContin also made me sleepy. Can’t have that anymore I ran out. It would be so nice if I could get 7-8 hours of uninterrupted sleep. Maybe someday.

I took 5mg of Indica gummy and trazodone 200mg and I was up all night . How much gummy worked for you ? Feel better , sorry for what you’re going through . I am so desperate for sleep .

I'm so sorry to hear that you didn't sleep. What you're going through is a lot for one person to handle.
I forgot to mention that I also take 0.5 mg of Xanax each night. My anxiety is at an all-time high and at the end of the day, my mind is racing and the Xanax combined with my other sleep medication really helps. I take it during the day sometimes, but only as needed.

To answer your question about the gummies, I started taking 1 x 750 mg at night, and then increased it to 2 each night. When I first took them (they're "Above" by Sunmed / delta-8 thc: max strength gummies) I found that I would "snack" a bit before bed, but that stopped after a week or so. I live in SC, where marijuana manufactured in any form is illegal, which is why I have taken Above.

I assume you live in a state where cannabis/marijuana is legal, because you mentioned taking the Indica gummy to sleep. I often travel to Boston to visit family, where recreational cannabis/marijuana is legal, and I've used those types of sleep gummies while there. The BEST one by far is Zonked! Almost immediately upon taking (along with Trazodone and Xanax), I was instantly tired and would go straight to bed and sleep through the night. It was unbelievable. I didn't feel groggy at all upon waking. I started by taking 1 x 100 mg at night (with my other sleep meds), and eventually wound up taking 2 x 100mg WITHOUT my other meds and had the same sleep experience!

I stopped taking the Zonked quite some time ago while in Boston because I'm on Worker's Comp Disability, and I often have bloodwork done at my Pain Management doctor's office. If there are traces of any medications in my system that are not prescribed by my WC doctors, or traces of illegal drugs of any sort, the state would would immediately close my disability case.

I hope this information helps 🙂

Hi.
Unfortunately it is not legal in Florida but a friend got it for me . I asked my doctor if I could try it instead of the sleeping pill and she said yes . Unfortunately Xanax does not make me tired at all . It calms me down but that’s it . Someone told me to try two tonight , that would be 10mg . Last night I took 200 mg of Trazodone and then one hour later took the gummy for the first time . Thank you so much for all of your information. I greatly appreciate it . I am a zombie today full of anxiety. I wish I had that brand that you said worked well .

Hello, I have a close friend in another country who needs some help that he’s not getting at home. His medical problems started about seven years ago with insomnia which snowballed into myriad other afflictions, many of them side-effects of the medications: depression, anxiety, muscle pain/weakness, persistent nausea/vomiting, total lack of appetite, ED and suicidal ideation. He and his doctors have tried an astonishing array of drugs (detailed below) but have made no progress in treating his insomnia and the other problems reduce his quality of life to near-zero. To complicate things further, an unfortunate family situation routinely serves to make things worse.

I’m posting here today because we’re hoping to find:
- medical professionals who don’t believe that the answer is “more drugs”
- other individuals struggling, recovering or recovered from similar circumstances
- recommended courses of action
- facilities or support organizations with relevant expertise

As his friend, I believe that his doctors at home (in a country with public healthcare) have neither the resources nor the incentives to make him better, and so their efforts to medicate him are more about stabilization than recovery. In other words, I believe that his doctors have basically given up. I will not. We eagerly welcome anything positive that this community has to offer. Thank you.

Drug List

Currently:
- Pregablin (Lyrica) — 3x daily, 150mg
- Mirtazapine (Remeron) — 7 years, daily, 30mg

- Flurazepam (Dalmadorm) — 30mg
- Zolpidem (Ambien) — 10mg
- Levosulpiride (Levopraid) — 2x daily, 50mg
- Rivotril/Clonazepam (Klonopin) — 50 drops

In the past:

- Olanzapine (Zyprexa) — 1.5 years, varying dosages (5-20mg)
- Quetiapine (Seroquel) — 6 months, varying dosages (25-800mg)
- Melatonin (Circadin)
- Fluvoxamine (Luvox)
- Trazodone
- Clotiapine (Entumin)

@tmoff it supposedly makes the Vit D absorb better. It worked because I do not take it anymore and my levels are staying good. I think I got it at Walgreens. Good luck to you.

@kalevi
Ask your physician about Trazadone for sleep.

I easily can identify with the issue of insomnia and anxiety along with long-standing depression. I have tried everything available known to humankind, both rX and OTC. My psychiatrist (finally one who is open-minded) is progressive and forward-thinking. If one med does not work after 6 weeks, she changes it up and we try something else; I feel heard and validated. At present, I am on a cocktail of meds, but I trust her judgement. I discovered that many, many doctors in NY take a staunch stance against sleep meds. It’s a fierce battle out here.
