How long does it take for Tymlos side effects to subside?

I’ve been in Tymlos for two months now and have bone pain, dizziness and just overall aches and pains. Does this get better?

@cloud60 I just hope you don't wake up to side effects. I just had side effects 9-12am with 7 clicks but now they are gone. Overall fatigue remains no matter what I do so I get myself going. I still get woozy/lightheaded with 7-8 clicks but have not had a headache since my first two weeks in 6/21. I was hoping yours would go away.

Originally I could not tolerate 4 clicks. Hope that gives you hope.

I am debating whether 12 noon or 11 pm would be best. It kind of ruins my day

I usually do it at 7am and by 10 I am okay. Depends on your schedule. @cloud60 remind me, what med did you do before this or did you do another med?

I did one week each of fosamax
Alctonel
And Boniva
. I don’t know if those interfered with Tymlos absorption

Well your doctor could answer that but I would doubt it and your doctor prescribed Tymlos so....

@mariejean03 it depends on bone density scores and fracture history. I am going to try Reclast after Tymlos to "lock in" my gains. My docs will do a test dose of 10% (1 mg not 5) and then I can do a half dose of 2.5mg if I tolerate it.

The thing is, once you do a bisphosphonate like Tymlos, the stronger bone building drugs are not as effective, at least to some extent. If your DEXA scores are not good, try to get on Tymlos, Forteo or Evenity before Reclast. If your DEXA scores are not too bad, you could consult with Keith McCormick who has a lot of info on holistic approaches. With input from your doc as well.

Hi there @windyshores
Please share your understanding of @Tymlos as a bisphosphonate. Isn't it a bone builder, not a bone protector?

Thanks,
Chris

@artscaping oh gosh that was a typo. Tymlos is not a bisphosphonate and is an anabolic, a bone builder.

This should read " The thing is, once you do a bisphosphonate like RECLAST, the stronger bone building drugs are not as effective, at least to some extent."

Sorry!!

I did 5 clicks today for the first time. I now do it at 12 noon. I exercise and do errands in the morning, come home for lunch and shot and lie down, I don’t feel like being active with these side effects. I will watch how long the lightheaded goes on for. Maybe I will end up wanting to do medicine at night but I feel like after lunch and after electrolyte drink, it’s a good time for now.

I went out after two hours on a quick errand but I think the shot kind of tires me out so I think I should take it at 11 pm tomorrow night.

I did 8 clicks at 7am today. Blood pressure 94/55 or thereabouts for hours. By 10 I was functional.

Tymlos lowers bp so those of us already lowish may have more lightheadedness.

Eight is still very hard for me but I am going to do 8 on days when I have nothing else to do. Just three more months, maybe two.

@cloud60 I am sorry that 5 clicks is doing this to you and hope you can get to 6. That is enough according to my doc. So take your time.
