How long does it take for Tymlos side effects to subside?

Maybe those on Tymlos who suffer from adverse reactions should campaign Radius to resume development of the Tymlos patch. Continuous slow release might solve a number of problems.

@mariajean03 McCormick is a chiropractor who wrote "The Whole Body Approach to Osteoporosis" and the recent 700 page "Great Bones." If your DEXA scores are under -3.0 (or sometimes -3.5 ?) he might recommend a holistic approach but he also suggests meds and did them himself at one time.

@njhornung my doc told me that treatment with Forteo and Tymlos depends on a quick bolus or burst of parathyroid action. I thought the patch study failed-? Maybe not. The adverse reactions are better than fractures, which are life long. The trouble is we all feel strong until it happens. Osteoporosis does not have symptoms.

If a burst is required, why did they even start development of a patch?

Another expensive round of tests was required and Radius opted to not fprmd yhay.

Also results were not the same as with the injection. The injection is no big deal. That is a big investment to satisfy needle phobes!

I do NOT have a needle phobia. I actually watch as the phlebotomist draws blood and I have given a dog sub-Q fluids. What I have is a fear that the adverse reactions would exacerbate my balance issue which could prove fatal for me. I am considering risking a fracture over death or being paralyzed from the neck down. ( I live in a three story townhouse.) That is why a slow release from a patch appeals to me . Others might stay with the program if the adverse reactions were mitigated.

Your story falls into "life ain't fair" category. I have no magic to sprinkle over you, but you can wonder with me if men got more of this health issue, do you think there would be better medicine and testing? My story is I've shrunk more than 3" and I only have osteoporosis in one hip. Take care and trust your own judgment.

I understand your fear. I have the same for a different reason.
At -4.3 and 8 compression fractures, my spine will not withstand a fall. Every doctor who has seen me has warned me against falls.
Fortunately, although I have experienced some lightheadedness, it has not been a big issue.
Still, that is why I have decided not to try another click until all side effects subside.
I take my precautions and am very aware of my situation. I will not risk a fall, but cannot risk more fractures.
Even if it means going veeeery slowly up to the therapeutic dose, as long as I physically can, I will stick to my treatment.
