How long does it take for Tymlos side effects to subside?

Posted by rhondat1964 @rhondat1964, Jun 12, 2023

I’ve been in Tymlos for two months now and have bone pain, dizziness and just overall aches and pains. Does this get better?

That’s really great that you are able to do 8.
Is there any chance this drug causes cancer or Alzheimer’s or cardiac problems.
Even talcum powder causes cancer. I just wonder with such side effects is it a bad sign that it’s just not what the body wants.
It’s great you can do 8 I fell I never will be able to.
3 in the afternoon and 4 at night is working for me. It’s my best option now.

It took me almost two years to get to 8 and side effects are significant. At 7 clicks I am pretty good. I am just doing a last push.

You are supposed to start a new pen every 30 days even if there’s still medication in the pen.

The endocrinologist I see encourages use of the pen until it is empty. He has an osteoporosis only practice.

I was only responding to the question based on what my doctor and the Tymlos clinical educator told me.

@ymv the Tymlos educator (and maybe your doctor) are constrained by what studies were based on, and also on the idea that Tymlos can be left out of the refrigerator. The Tymlos specialty pharmacy wouldn't even give me more needles to extend use past 30 days.

My doc is a top endo and said it is fine to use past 30 days until the pen is empty. I think a good middle ground is to toss the pen after an extra 14 days, as long as it has been refrigerated.

Ramping up is going to pose this question since the 30 days is based on full doses.

Make sure the pen isn't cloudy. If side effects stop entirely, maybe consider it isn't working!!!!

Since I am not at full dose, I always have medication left after 30 days. I am using the pen for an extra week after the 30 days. Then, I toss it. I feel it is a happy medium between making good use of the medication and protecting its quality.

I do make sure that the pen is always between 60-75 degrees temperature. I live in Puerto Rico and temperatures here are over 95 degrees these days, so "room temperature" here is a sauna.

The endocrinologist I see also told me that what disturbes the molecule is replacing the needle. With the tymlos pen you can replace the pen cap with the needle connected. The newer Forteo pen is designed so that the needle has to be removed before the cap can be replaced. I have been assured that reusing the needle poses no risk.
On Forteo without side effects, I'd worried that I'd been given a demo pen. But my nails are suddenly so strong and growing so quickly that I'm assured the medication is working. Some are on these drugs for two years with no BMD increase. Everyone should be having PINP and CTX serum measurements or other bone markers, so years of repair aren't lost.
