Has anyone tried an anti inflammatory diet for COPD?

I am working on that now. I have found a lot of information on it and wondered if anyone else is trying this. I am finding it helpful thus far.

May I ask how you are finding it helpful? Our major problem seems to be inflammation so it makes sense that it might help. 🙏

@narelled23 It is very early in this trial for me...but I noticed less mucus and wheezing. It may be the combination of eliminating dairy, which causes so much congestion. I am eating much healthier, intermittent fasting, drinking nothing but water and ginger/turmeric tea and some coffee and mullien tea. I am weight training, resistence training and walking most days. I also eat only Ezekiel bread so much lower gluten. I eat next to no processed foods, little if any seed oils, fruits are mostly berries. I have had to really make this my main focus right now. I choose from the lists of anti inflammatory foods I have found doing searches on the internet. I have had 2 different doctors tell me to eliminate dairy in all forms. Am I going to "cheat" once in a while....probably. But for the most part this is what I am doing. I am breathing and sleeping much better.

I too eat what I call 'clean food' and drink only hot water. I do have a mug of real coffee in the morning. Cutting out anything ultra processed has been beneficial in that I don't cough as much, wheeze as much, am breathlessness as much or have as much mucus.

I've noticed that there is a fairly robust difference of opinion as to the inflammatory nature of dairy. I suspect it's a nuanced issue and I don't know enough about it to know if I should worry in my particular case or not. In general though, I completely agree with trying to reduce substances that are inflammatory which include sugar and alcohol. Sadly! What fun is life without cake and maybe wine..? Sort of kidding, kind of.

@mersterling All I can say is try it. I have gone back and forth and when I include dairy, I personally have much more mucus. I had a doctor tell me that dairy and gluten are highly inflammatory foods. I won't say I will never have it, I am choosing to not have it for the most part. People are very sensitive about trying to take a way their dairy. They can have it. Good luck with that. But true, what fun is life without cake once in a while...not kidding. I don't drink, so alcohol it not a problem.

So far as milk products, one can be lactose intolerant which usually causes stomach problems. A milk allergy is triggered by the whey protein or the casein and they produce an inflammatory response.
