Hello there,
I’m very curious why you were prescribed such a powerful medication for a supposedly minor problem. Would you be willing to share your diagnosis at the time this medication was prescribed. Although I’m not familiar with any off label use for this medication I suppose there may be some however being an antipsychotic it’s primarily used for mental and mood disorders. Also do you currently have heart failure? What is your current Cardiac diagnosis and do you know your ejection fraction?
I imagine you’re already aware that there are Cardiovascular side effects. I don’t know if those are those are dose related or to the length of use or what.
The one thing I am sure of is that I personally would never use an anti-psychotic medication unless I had a serious illness and was absolutely convinced that I required that particular type of medication.
Wishing you the the best,
Jake
the fanapt was prescribed maybe about 2 years after the bybass in 2010. For basicly if anything , anxiety 1mg per day . Was told it was not for schitzophrenia "but to take the edge off" and it can be prescrebed for other things. But i never knew till now on my own about all the bad things about it that are actually what the reports show till now when i researched finding it matched what now is my problem and sugester d defibulator. The presriber kept on saying its ok to take and even now with a recent ef 33 and Qt in the 170 and turning out hes a bad situation.

I was pointed to this board and moderator for the following : This is not so much about any psychotic issue as it is for information about the stopping of a drug that is published with serious heart contraindictions after 8 years of takeing and wondering if that will help lower my ekg Qtc and help raise my heart EF in not taking it. Furthermore the main fact(s) needed are: Does this drug Fanapt/iliperidone 1 mg though low dose per day build up in the liklihood of the published bad effects to the heart actually taking place in the system and built up after 360 days x 8 years x 1 mg. and what actually are the facts about this.

I’m tagging a few members and Mentors who are active in the Heart discussions – @hopeful33250 @thankful @predictable @anniegk @ellamster @bobbecker – and @lisalucier who is the moderator for the Mental Health groups on Connect.
I also encourage you to view this discussion, "Link between Seroquel and Heart Problems?” https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/link-between-seroquel-and-heart-problems/ where you will meet @majic @tib85 @pianista @heartpolar and other members; I hope they will be able to shed more light on your question.
@terkur, you mentioned, you were prescribed Fanapt by ”a psychiatrist” for non-schizophrenic minor reasons after a triple bypass – are you able to share a bit more? A bypass is a major procedure; did the doctor perhaps recommend Fanapt for anxiety?
