Oxidized LDL test, low ldl stroke risk
There has been negative heart history in my fam so I went to cardiologist to get initial exam and found I had a calcium score above normal. It was 1400. A procedure showed some arterial calcification but not enough for stents. My cholesterol was not bad but cardiologist wants LDL to be around 50. After 10 months on Repatha it’s there. Now I’m reading that LDL under 70 is known to increase the risk of stroke, particularly in women. Further, I’m reading about oxidized ldl tests which tells a better story than simply a ldl number. I’m so confused at this point. Why is my cardi not ordering the oxidized ldl and why does neither my PC or Cardi know about the increase stroke risk with low ldl?

BP plays into the equation. If bp is controlled or naturally low, stroke risk from lower LDL is less the way I understood it. Discuss with cardio or lipidologist to explain.
