Eliquis side-effects muscle weakness and numb/tingling toes
Hi. I had two episodes of multiple bi-lateral lung clots and was put on 5mg Eliquis twice a day in 2019. After several months I found myself unable to walk any distance without my thighs feeling like they had no energy. I’d have to stop and rest over and over again but had no trouble breathing.
About a year ago I noticed that my toes felt like they were numb or walking up from being “asleep”.
Both of these continue today. Anyone else with these symptoms on Eliquis? Has anyone been reduced to 2.5 mg twice a day after 6 months on 5 mg twice a day?
My pcp doesn’t seem concerned and doesn’t think I should go down to 2.5 mg twice a day.
Thanks in advance for responses.

@kndaustin71 I was on Eliquis for 6 months and now off almost three. All the symptoms were there, particularly the vertigo. Until three days ago my walk felt I was on wooden feet. Now better, knee an hip joints a bit better, but sitting anylength of time makes joints hurt. At least the slight bit of better has me hopeful, Indigestion issues have not gone away. For me it definitely hit all my muscles, teeth slid sideways. It felt like it softened all my tissues. It is most helpful to hear others' experiences.

1 ReactionMy husband was put on eliquis February 2025, after he had AFIB and an ablation done. Now when he walks any distance he has numbness and tingling sensation on his left leg.

2 Reactions@gabriig teeth slid sideways???
@msvjv my teeth were fairly straight and suddenly moved and overlap. It will be interesting to see my x-rays next time I'm at the dentist's. Maybe I'll be only 90 year old in braces! Some good news is some of the symptoms are little by little going away. Much of the joint pain has lessened and I'm walking better and balance is better, I don't use a cane.

1 ReactionI had these exact symptoms while taking eliquis. Along with the feeling of things crawling on my legs while I slept and would wake up to my legs bright red and an ‘on fire’ feeling. I later found out the drug is not FDA approved and was never explained that by the doctor who probably got a ‘kick back’ for prescribing me it. I actually lost feeling in my leg while walking and fell, which caused a fracture to my foot. They brought me in for an ultrasound of my leg, worried about a blood clot causing the problem and found nothing. I ordered to be taken off of the medication immediately. Approximately 4 years later, I still have intermittent loss of feeling in my left leg.
