Does anyone here have Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis?
I was diagnosed about 4 months ago, after almost two years of going to doctors for multiple symptoms. A simple deeper drive into my thyroid numbers revealed this diagnosis. It took so long to find out and that months of PT, scans, x-rays, MRIs, neurological studies could have been avoided. But I am here now and wondering if anyone has experience managing symptoms and flares?

I had major trouble being diagnosed as well - every specialist over 2 years. I would simply drop to my knees at work. My weight went down to 99lbs and could not walk. I actually had thyroid psychosis but was sent to a psych ward where I was given 8oz of water a day (NO FOOD) - SERIOUSLY ?!?!?!?!? A simple blood test performed at any of these 92 appts could have changed my story, but here I am, relocated across the country from NH to AZ and finally diagnosed and getting on. I just wish I didn't have to lose the life I knew and loved. I do know it happened this way for a reason, but shame on the medical system of NH .

1 ReactionI also have Hashimoto’s, but with Hypothyroidism. I can’t say that I lost weight, but gained about 10 lbs. After I was diagnosed, I was put on 2 Thyroid drugs. Cytomel 5 mcg and Synthroid 125 mcg. I felt better pretty quickly after beginning the drugs. Over time, as I had my Thyroid Labs run every 3 months, my Thyroid numbers came down and my dosage of medication was changed to 75 mcg of Synthroid. It sounds like you may have the opposite of me which is Hyperthyroidism, which could cause weight loss. I’m hoping you are now on the right road to feeling better and have been properly diagnosed and treated.
