Anyone here also have SSS
Hi I had a medtronic 2 lead pacemaker put in on June 10, 2026. No more blackouts since.
It was a longtime mystery and finally had a loop implant put in first that captured the abnormal heart rythmn. I have sick sinus syndrome with heart rate dropping to 20 bpm and 5 sec heart pause

I don't, but there are several on this forum who have and have posted about it over the four or so years I have been on this forum. You are by no means alone, and I hope you'll feel welcome. I expect you'll get some responses before too long.

1 ReactionHi there - you are definitely not alone. Other than the fact that my heart rate only dropped into the low 30’s, we sound like our SSS was very similar. My pacemaker was implanted last October (2026) and greatly improved my symptoms. Nice to not have constant lightheadedness.
@mbixler my hr dropped to 20 bpm and 5 second heart pause. Plus I just read the info from the doc that put my pacemaker in. He wrote complete heart block as my diagnosis with #2 sick sinus syndrome

With a pacemaker set to correct number you should not have the drop of what you explained. My pacemaker is set for 79 bpm and thus I do not have any pulse rates below 70.
I started with a LBBB but progressed into cardiomyopathy with heart failure. I have both a Pacemaker and Defibrator device.
If your pulse is dropping like that is your pacemaker set right to prevent that? Talk to your PACE Clinic, EP, cardiologist if you are having the low pulse rates and asked about is your pacemaker set o a specific rate or just to kick in when gets low.
@jc76 since I had my pacemaker put in the cardiac nurse set it at 60 bpm as the lowest rate it can drop. I wish you the Best
