Caution about peppermint to reduce symptoms

Posted by mountainmarge @mountainmarge, Jul 5 12:58am

I've had autoimmune troubles for years and have had severe allergic reactions to medications, including all antibiotics now, so I've become afraid to take anything. However, with most of my troubles, I've found there's enough literature on subjects like candida, food allergies and such, that I can figure out my problem and find a natural remedy that helps. I haven't found doctors to be helpful with any of my problems yet and they're not helping with this COVID business either, so I'm trying to figure out a solution myself. A lot of herbalists are quacks, though, so you can't believe everything you hear. However, there might be some good common sense advice out there. Has anyone heard any. I'm researching now. I will post if I find any and it proves helpful.

@frouke I read that peppermint contains small amounts of caffeine. Those whom are caffeine intolerant should not mix peppermint in their tea. It can cause gas and indigestion. I no longer drink peppermint tea as I drink straight chamomile tea now with honey, no sugar. It helps me friend.

That's absolutely relevant. I was having heart troubles that were settled by drinking Pedialyte, which an ER doctor had recommended for hydration. But the salts and electrolytes in that drink made my heart stop pounding and my blood pressure went down. I was eating healthy food, but it wasn't being processed properly. The electrolyte solution helped.

I don't know if this is revelent enough , but I seem to feel better if I get more salt. So I suck on salty sunflower seeds ( the hot taco flavored ones) when I feel my energy fading and a fatigue wave coming on. -Seems to help for awhile,

@djg3012 Yep...electrolytes really help! Sodium, potassium and magnesium. I use the Key Nutrients powder in my water all day long. It really helps!
