Caution about peppermint to reduce symptoms

Posted by mountainmarge @mountainmarge, 6 days ago

I posted earlier that I was reading that peppermint tea can help with symptoms, but in checking into it, I learned that it can worsen acid reflux. So, if you have that, definitely do not try it. Most studies have been on the oil, not tea. I'm experimenting with tea for now. One article suggested that if you want to use the oil, which can be deadly if overused, you should consult your doctor. Heck, my doctors don't even know anything about COVID.

It’s true about peppermint, we always thought that it helped with digestion issues but it can actually aggravate the symptoms.

@frouke I read that peppermint contains small amounts of caffeine. Those whom are caffeine intolerant should not mix peppermint in their tea. It can cause gas and indigestion. I no longer drink peppermint tea as I drink straight chamomile tea now with honey, no sugar. It helps me friend.
